James ''Jim'' Edgar Blount, Jr., age 63, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away at his home on January 9, 2025. He was born in Dayton, Ohio to his late parents, James Edgar Blount Sr. and Martha (Klug) Blount Fortune.
Jim graduated from Roth High School on a Friday in May of 1980 and on the following Monday, left for Lackland Air Force Base for Basic Training. He was stationed at LRAFB, RAF Upper Heyford UK and Minot Air Force Base ND to serve a total of 9 years in the United States Air Force, Security Police.
After his service to our country, Jim went to work for the Little Rock Police Department in May of 1990 and retired in May of 2016 having served 26 years as a Patrol Officer, including 4 years with SWAT. Following his career with Little Rock Police Department, Jim went to work for the Arkansas State Capitol Police Department in December of 2018 and retired in June of 2024.
Jim was a member of Agape Church since 2008 and was an untraditional and uncompromising believer of his Lord, Jesus Christ. Jim had many interests and enjoyments through the years: cycling, where he was able to compete at Leadville, CO; RV camping and hiking with his wife; taking his son on life-adventures such as storm chasing, train watching, fishing, fireworks, digging for crystals and much more.
In addition, he enjoyed chewing the fat about military, world events and weapons with his stepson and cheering on his beloved Buckeyes (O-H-I-O). He loved to challenge others in political talks (debates) and was known for his patriotism, serving others, mentorship to younger men whether it be in law enforcement, the family, or church; his humor and uncompromised commitment to what he believed was right; his love and pride for his son; his respect and admiration for his stepson and his love for his wife and partner. Jim loved God, Family and Country.
Survivors include his wife of sixteen years, Sandra Blount; son, Maddox Blount and step-son, James M. Adkins; two sisters, Kimberlee Bird (Randall) of Ohio and Cathy Barrow of Oklahoma; one half-brother, Eugene Blount (Amy) of Ohio and one half-sister, Michelle Briggs (Matt) of Ohio; seven nieces, three nephews, two great-nephews, two great nieces plus many more family and friends.
A visitation will begin at 10:00am with funeral services beginning at 11:00am on Friday, Jan 24th at Agape Church, 701 Napa Valley Drive, Little Rock, AR (501) 225-0612 with Pastor Happy Caldwell and Pastor Scott Stewart officiating. Honor Guard by Little Rock Police Department. Burial will follow at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock with the United States Air Force Honor Guard.
