James William Fletcher, Jr., 81, of Paris, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 in Rogers, Arkansas. He was born on February 27, 1943 in Paris to his parents, James William Fletcher Sr. and Josephine (Litsch) Fletcher.
James served in Vietnam while enlisted in the United States Navy. After 22 years of service he retired from the Navy and worked for over 25 years with the United States Postal Service. He was always an avid Arkansas Razorback and St. Louis Cardinals Fan, enjoyed fishing, was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paris, the Catholic War Veterans, the DAV and a lifetime member of the Moffett Field Museum in California.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Fletcher and John Fletcher and one sister in law, Sonja Fletcher.
He is survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Charlotte (Robins) Fletcher of Paris; one daughter, Cindy Gandy and husband, Tony of New Blaine; one son, Dr. James William Fletcher III and wife, Ashley of Jonesboro; one sister, Carole Becker of Lavaca; one brother, Harry Fletcher of Paris; five grandchildren, Amanda Hamilton and husband, Aaron, Rebecca Elsken, Thomas Fletcher and wife, Lili, Lydia Fletcher and Brittany Gandy; two great grandsons, James Hamilton and Charlie Fletcher and numerous nieces and nephews.
A rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paris. The family will visit with friends and family immediately following the rosary.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paris officiated by Fr. Polycarp Ssebowa. Burial with full military honors will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Fort Smith National Cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Gary Simmons, Bret Sullivan, Brian Fletcher, Bennett Fletcher, Billy Featherston and Kurtis Simmons.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Walker, George Zeiler, Mike Koehler, Dr. Tom Spivey, Raymond Neumeier, PeeWee Schluterman, Racine Nehus, Kenneth Neumeier and Steve Elsken.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic School, 15 South Spruce Street, Paris, AR 72855.
