of Conway, AR
June 24, 1957 - January 3, 2025
Anne Marie Edgmon (Sherman), loving wife, exemplary mother and adoring grandmother passed away on January 3, 2025 in Conway, Arkansas at the age of 67. Anne is survived and deeply missed by her husband, David Thomas Edgmon. They were married January 4, 1991 and shared 34 years of marriage.
Anne was born in El Paso, Texas in 1957 as the newest addition to a military family. She grew up in Saint Charles, Missouri where she met David Wayne Griffin, whom she married on July 2, 1976. They had five children. Following their divorce in 1989, Anne relocated to Conway, Arkansas, after she married David Thomas, January 4, 1991. They raised Anne's children here. With this marriage, she gained three daughters.
Anne's early years were filled with love and affection. From her mother, Mae Loraine, she learned to pray sincerely and to be kind to others, never expecting anything in return. She was a favorite of her father, Thomas John. She was a beautiful little girl with lovely eyes and a great, happy disposition. Her father called her ''Princess'' and soon the whole family did the same thing.
Anne was active in high school as a National Honor Society member, Student Council Representative and National Merit Scholarship recipient. She attended Saint Louis University after graduating Duschene High School, completing her associates degree online later in life. She was the director of the Head Start Program in Gasconade County, Missouri and several daycares in Arkansas before returning to her career as custodial engineer for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She retired with full benefits in 2002 to enjoy family and their new home just north of Conway in 2015.
Anne was full of life and loved being surrounded by her family as well as her friends. She was often found at church choir. She loved music and being surrounded by music whether she was singing or listening to her children or grandchildren perform. She was a very good pianist and shared this talent with others when given the opportunity. Music was her joy and her peace!
Anne's testimony of her Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ, was solid and immovable. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She studied her scriptures daily and attended Sunday School classes to learn about being a daughter of God. Anne served faithfully in many church callings throughout the years, including Stake Primary President, Seminary Teacher and Family History Coordinator.
She is survived by two sisters, Carolyn Anne Sherman and Martha Mary Sherman (Marie); three brothers, Thomas John Sherman Junior (Maryanne), James Edward Sherman (Michele) and Michael Robert Sherman (Glenda); four daughters, Robyn Christine Matheson (Aaron), Dawn Kathleen Brown (Nathan), Mae Loraine Dietz (Jason) and Victoria Renee Lloyd (Tyler); one son, David Wayne Griffin II (Tiffany); three step daughters, Leslie Anne Marshall (Ron), Rustye Dee Cooley (Todd) and Robin Leigh Cunningham (Kirk) and 32 grandchildren, Benjamin Matheson, Christine Davis (Jace), Emily Matheson, Daniel Matheson, John Matheson, Samantha Matheson, Jalen Brown (Karli), Deserae Adamson (Trase), Tallin Brown, Brodie Brown, Faith Dietz, Peter Dietz, Rebekah Dietz, Joseph Dietz, Elijah Dietz, Stephen Dietz, David (Tommy) Griffin, Caleb Griffin, Brigham Griffin, Madeline Griffin, Rachel Lloyd, John (Wesley) Lloyd, Edyth Lloyd, Myles Lloyd, Robert Marshall, Kyle Cunningham, Miranda Ethington (Seth), Haley Cooley and 3 great- grandchildren, Tate Brown, IvyJo Adamson and little baby Brown due in a few weeks.
Anne is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas John Sherman, Sr. and Mae Loraine Sherman (Zerr); one sister, (Sandra) and two brothers, Martin Lewis Sherman, wife, Patricia Ann Sherman (Otte) and (John).
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Crystal, Ashley, Sam and other caregivers from Seeds of Love, who so lovingly cared for Anne during the final months of her life. She had many visits from family and friends during this time.
