Mary Sue Smith

of Cordova, TN

August 22, 1935 - December 29, 2024

The life of Mary Sue Smith began on August 22, 1935 in the community of Stantonville, Tennessee. Mary Sue was one of six children in the family of Fate and Willie May Thomas. Mary Sue married James Edward Harris and their marriage was blessed with 3 children. As a young homemaker with little ones, she became skilled in cooking and caring for her family. Mary Sue and James lived most of their lives in Bethal Springs, Tennessee. Mary Sue loved children. At one time in her early life, Mary Sue was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church. Mary Sue started her career at the Shirt Factory in Adamsville, Tennessee along with her mother. Mary Sue's life led her to Memphis, Tennessee and she started a career at Frito Lay and then onto Smuckers. Unfortunately, Mary Sue and James got a divorce. Mary Sue kept working and met Ben Smith while working at Smuckers. Mary Sue and Ben got married and later in life moved to West Memphis, Arkansas. While living in West Memphis, Mary became a mommy to Sue and started enjoying her grandchildren along with babysitting. After Ben passed away, Mary Sue's health got bad and Mary Sue moved to Cordova, Tennessee with daughter, Judy and son in law, Roy Barnes for 13 years. Mary Sue passed away at the age of 89 at her home Sunday, December 29, 2024.

Mary Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Fate and Willie Mae Thomas; Sister, Carolyn McFall; brothers, Billy Thomas, Jimmy Thomas and granddaughter, Mindy Harris.

Mary Sue is survived by Daughter, Judy (Roy) Barnes of Cordova TN; Sons, Jerry (Debby) Harris of Forrest City, AR and Anthony (Carlina) Harris of West Memphis, AR. Mary Sue had 7 grandchildren, 14 Great grandchildren and 4 Great-Great grandchildren.
