Dorothy Jo Trotter Murray passed away on December 25, 2024, at the age of 95 at Hospice of the Hills in Harrison, Arkansas. She was born in Gaither, AR to the late Ralph A. and Gertrude Wagley Trotter on July 27, 1929. On March 11, 1951, Dorothy married the love of her life, James E. Murray, who preceded her in death on April 25, 1992.
She is survived by her son, Richard J. Murray of Harrison, AR; daughter-in-law, Debra Murray of Camden, AR; grandchildren, James J. Murray of No. Little Rock, AR, Mickie, and Scott Graves of Little Rock, AR, and four great-grandchildren, Noah, Madelynn, Sophie Graves, and Andrew Finch, and numerous other family members. In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, Jim Murray; grandchildren, Mandy and Chris Ham; brothers, Dennis Trotter and Perry Trotter and sister, Gladys Raley.

Dorothy was a former member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution where she served as registrar. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Claude Parrish Cancer Center. She was kind-hearted and always willing to help her friends and neighbors. She loved her family and church family dearly. Dorothy cherished time spent with her loved ones.


Visitation and the funeral service were on December 31, 2024, officiated by Rev. Doug Cartwright, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

Interment was at Maplewood Cemetery in Harrison.

Pallbearers were Eric Vest, Joshua Vest, Thomas Sniff, James J. Murray, Noah Graves, and Andrew Finch.

Honorary pallbearers were Susan Hudson Keller, Denice Butler, Judy Willey, Teresa Wray, and Wanda Moorehouse.

Memorial gifts can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Harrison (915 South Maple St., Harrison, AR 72601) and the Murray Family Scholarship Fund at the University of the Ozarks (415 North College, Clarksville, AR 72830).
