Clement Frank Henry KordsmeierI am a Veteran.

of Conway, AR

December 16, 1931 - December 24, 2024

Clement Frank Henry Kordsmeier, 93, of Conway, Arkansas passed away on December 24, 2024. He was born December 16, 1931 in Morrilton, Arkansas to Louis and Mary Kordsmeier, the seventh of eleven children. He graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School in Morrilton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence; grandson, Charles Joseph Kordsmeier; siblings, Hubert Kordsmeier, Rita Muller, Mildred Stroud, Sister Mary Elizabeth Kordsmeier SSND, Billie Riffle, Gene Kordsmeier, Regina Bawiec and son-in-law, Steven Raby.

He is survived by children, David (Melinda), Donna (Bill), Eddie (Jody) and Elaine; along with brothers, Jack, Bob and Phil. He has fourteen (14) grandchildren, twenty-two (22) great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews, all of whom he adored.

Clem joined the Air Force to serve during the Korean War, an experience that started with his first trip outside the state of Arkansas by train to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. As a farm boy from a small town, he was shocked at the difference between life on the farm and in the military. His next stop after basic training sent him to Tillamook, Oregon to be a Petroleum Specialist. After that duty, he was sent to Osan, Korea for a year and a short deployment to North Africa. He was discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. His love of the military was genuine despite having lost his brother, Hubert in WWII, as was evident to any visitor at his home with the flag always waving. Inside the house he loved to share displays detailing his family's military service.

Coming back to the USA required a 27-day ride on a ship and his life was already set having proposed to his high school sweetheart, Florence Dussex, the night before taking the train ride to basic training and then coming back after basic for the wedding before shipping out. After being discharged from the Air Force, Clem returned to Conway and was hired at Hambuchen Supply, which is now known as H3 Home+Décor. It was his 40 years working for three generations of the Hambuchen family that caused customers to believe he was Clem Hambuchen.

Clem and Florence were married 39 years. He was at Florence's side for seven years as she battled cancer and died in 1992.

Clem was an active 4th Degree member of Knights of Columbus 4143 for most of his life and served as Council Treasurer, Deputy Grand Knight, Grand Knight, Trustee and for the last several years as Sick Committee Chairman. He also served at the State level as State Council Secretary and as a member of the Fourth Degree Honor Guard.

In retirement he spent many days, when not golfing or on his annual deer hunting trip, at the St. Joseph Parish Flea Market repairing furniture and other donated items. He also enjoyed working with his old boss, A.J. Hambuchen, Jr. at the Carmelite Monastery in Little Rock and at Subiaco Abbey doing all sorts of manual labor.
