of Mountain View, AR
January 19, 1944 - December 20, 2024
Roy Dean Pitts, 80, of Fifty-Six, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 20th, 2024 at The Blossoms of Mountain View. Roy Dean was born on January 19th, 1944 in Fifty-Six, Arkansas to the late Alvin and Lucy (Gosser) Pitts.
Roy Dean married the love of his life, Madaline Carylon (Williams) Pitts on August 31st, 1967. He worked for the Arkansas Department of Transportation for 32 years, starting out in 1963 as an asphalt raker. He eventually became a Finished Motor Patrol Operator and later retired as the Area Maintenance Supervisor in 1995. After only two weeks of retirement, Roy Dean missed the thrill of the job and went to work at the Stone County Road Department running Motor Patrol before retiring for the second time 12+ years later. He was known locally for his work ethic and never said ''no'' to a job. He once worked 70 hours, came home and slept for 4 hours, only to be called back out and bladed snow on the roads until the roads were safe. When Roy Dean was not grading most (if not all) roads in Stone County, he spent his time raising coon dogs, hunting and fishing, and doing anything Madaline told him to do. He was a lifelong member at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church and served as a deacon for many years. He loved the Lord and is rejoicing with his loved ones in Heaven.
Roy Dean is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Lucy, wife Madaline, and siblings Carl Jean, Darlene Smith, and Maxine Trammell. He is survived by siblings Ronnie Pitts and Irene Wilming, his sons Dwayne Pitts and wife Dorcas Pitts, Barry Pitts and wife Teresa Pitts, Daryl Pitts and wife Kathleen Pitts, his grandchildren Callie, Brandon, Tyler, Autumn, Karli, and Kayla and 8 great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
