August 4, 2024 - November 11, 2024
Mae Helen Stokes, 90, of Conway, Arkansas passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024. She was born on August 4, 1934 in Plumerville, Arkansas to Jimmy ''High Pockets'' and Mildred (Gwin) Thomas.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph (Joe) Stokes and a daughter, Brenda Vandament Andrews.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Amanda Vandament (Ryan Wall); a grandson, Lane Andrews (Kayleigh); 2 great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Danny Wall and we can't leave out her beloved cat, Kitty, that never left her side. And yes, Mamaw, she will still get her egg every morning!
Helen lived a long, fulfilling life, doing what she wanted and loved, with a long, happy marriage to a man that gave her whatever she wanted. During her early adulthood she worked at a bakery and butcher shop. She then went on to help her husband run his machine shop (Stokes Machine Shop) and open her own craft shop with her daughter, "The Country Bumpkin".
She loved baking, which she is known for, especially her German chocolate cake, pecan pie and fruit cake. She had an absolute art with her sewing, quilting and crocheting. Helen took pride in her yard. You would always see her working those flowerbeds or on her mower.
The family would like to thank the staff of Arkansas Hospice for all their care and support.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, November 14, 2024 from 6-8:00pm at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway, Arkansas.
