of Houston, AR
June 21, 1933 - October 24, 2024
Melissa ''Missy'' Marie Curley, 91, of Houston, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on October 24, 2024. She was born June 21, 1933 in Topeka, Kansas to the late Donald and Grace Kibby.
Our mom, Missy, lead a colorful life in her 91 years. She was a young Air Force wife with 2 baby girls and relocated many times. As life would have it things changed and it soon became just Missy and her girls. Missy has an amazing ability to adapt to whatever life threw at her. She was the ultimate survivor. She had a fantastic sense of humor and a great work ethic. She supported us girls by waitressing and bartending, working nights and long shifts. Her favorite job was being a night operator at Lakelawn Metairie Funeral Home in New Orleans, LA. After moving to Arkansas, she worked the desk in her daughter, Kristy's salon, K2K Salon and Spa, where she retired. Missy loved cats, dogs, horses and rescued many of them throughout her life. She would also bring in and nurse baby orphaned squirrels and rabbits.
Missy and her girls, Kim and Kris, were the 3 musketeers. Things were often difficult, but we always stood by each other. Then along came Kate, her granddaughter, the 4th musketeer. Missy adored Kate and it was clear, that little girl changed Missy's world. She entered the world of WWF Wrestling, watching Jerry Springer, running the streets of Kenner shopping or getting Kastle burgers and hot chocolate from Tastee Donuts to ride and look at the Christmas lights.
She fought many illness's throughout the last 10 years, yet she always kept that great sense of humor and wit. She loved watching and helping to grow a great garden. Missy also found God during these years. Her faith in Christ was very strong and her Bible is very worn. She truly gained peace. So now we are back to the 3 musketeers, Kim, Kris and Kate. Missy's strong spirit will live on in each of us as we move forward in love and laughter, which is exactly what she would've wanted. Goodbye Mama! We love you!
Melissa is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Thibodaux (John) and Kristy Fruits; her granddaughter, Katelyn Thibodaux Spiller (Jason); great- grandchildren, Troy Dean Cody and Addison Grace Spiller. She is also survived by her god daughter, Melissa Malone Terry of Colorado Springs, Colorado and her 5 fur babies, Kitty, Frosty, Molly, Scaret and her precious Billy Bob.
A graveside service will be held after the holidays at Crestlawn Memorial Park.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Hospice Home Care for all the wonderful care they provided through the years! Also, the Perry County Nursing and Rehab Center for great care the last week of her life.
