David Wayne Rorie, affectionately known as Nickel, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024 at Twin Lakes Therapy and Living in Flippin, Arkansas. He was born on October 1, 1953 in Mountain Home and was 71 years old at the time of his passing.
A proud graduate of Flippin High School, David went on to pursue his passion for baseball at Arkansas Tech University, where he earned a scholarship from 1971 to 1975. After college, he dedicated himself to the local community, working at Marbax Shirt Co. from 1976 until its closure in 2010, after which he continued his career at Ranger Boats in the parts department until 2020.
David was known for his love of the outdoors and sports. He enjoyed hunting, playing softball, golfing and was an avid fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks, Kansas City Chiefs and Atlanta Braves. Many in North Central Arkansas fondly remember David for his years as a basketball referee and he cherished the time spent coaching his teams, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of young athletes.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Bertha (Fisk) Rorie. He is survived by his three brothers, Dody, Curtis (Janet) and Bruce Rorie; his three sons, Dusty (Loren), Brett (Bridget) and Shayne Rorie and five grandchildren, Miah, Hayden, Gavin, Deja and Kristina Rorie. He is also survived by three nieces, two nephews, many cousins and a multitude of friends who will deeply miss his vibrant spirit and kind heart. David Wayne Rorie's legacy of kindness, laughter and love will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be dearly missed.
A visitation will be held on November 4, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Roller-Burns Funeral Chapel, followed by a funeral service at noon. Services are entrusted to Roller-Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas.
