The Life Journey of Alice
As we reflect on the life of Alice Faye Matthews Nolen, we are filled with gratitude for the countless lives she touched, served and blessed along her journey.
Alice's life began on December 21, 1948 in Los Angeles, California, born to John Wesley and Esther Faye Matthews. She accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age. Her education journey started in Michigan at Detroit ISD and Franklin D. Roosevelt High School in Dallas. After moving to Malvern, Arkansas, she graduated from Annie Agnes Wilson High School in 1967 and later pursued a Licensed Practical Nursing Degree from Ouachita Vocational Technical School in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
On July 6, 1968, Alice married Nathan Nolen, Sr., becoming Alice Nolen. Together, they welcomed one son, Nathan ''Champ'' Nolen, Jr. into their lives. Nurse Alice Nolen served at the hospital in Malvern and worked closely with Dr. Mike Justus and Dr. Bruce White for many years, showing deep care for her patients and making a lasting impact on countless lives.
Alice later answered a higher calling, founding ''Blowing the Trumpet'' Ministries. As Evangelist Alice Nolen, she traveled the world, ministering, praying and leading thousands to Christ. Her ministry led her to cross paths with Dr. Jennifer Johnson, forming a strong team for Christ. She eventually joined Bishop Silas Johnson at Full Counsel Christian Fellowship Church, serving as a full-time staff minister. In time, Alice accepted the role of pastor at Full Counsel Malvern Church, where she poured her love and the Word of God into her congregation.
In her later years, as her health presented challenges, she stepped down from full-time ministry but continued sharing the Word of God with everyone she met.
On Sunday, October 27, 2024, in her 75th year, Alice received her blessing of immortality with her family by her side. She was joyfully reunited with her parents, John Wesley and Esther Faye Matthews; her brother, John Edward ''Sonny'' Matthews and her dear friend, Dr. Jennifer Johnson.
Alice's legacy lives on through her son, Nathan (Misty) Nolen, Jr. of Little Rock, AR and her beloved grandson, Noah Nolen. She is also survived by her sisters in Dallas, Texas-Margaret ''Marge'' (Ralph) Lewis, Esther ''Rene'' (Leon) Richardson and Sandra ''San'' Matthews; her sister-in-law, Sheila Nolen of Bryant, AR; her ''bonus daughter,'' Regina (Ron) Johnson of Maumelle, AR and her close friend, Dr. Connie McGowan of Maumelle, AR. The children of Jennifer and Silas Johnson also held a special place in her heart, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her extended Full Counsel Church family.
Pastor Alice Nolen's legacy of love, service and faith will continue to inspire, encourage and change lives. Her spirit lives on!
