James Lee Nehus

of Paris, AR

September 22, 1939 - October 20, 2024

James Lee Nehus, a lifelong resident of Paris, Arkansas went to meet God on October 20, 2024. James was born on September 22, 1939 to Ocie and William Nehus. He was a steadfast member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church for his entire life. There, he was baptized into the faith, attended the St. Joseph's Catholic School and married his devoted wife of 65 years, Rita Marie Neumeier, who survives him. James had his nine children baptized in the church. Isaac (Kathleen) Nehus, Nathaniel (Martha) Nehus, Casper (Courtney) Nehus, Veronica (Kevin) Raney, Xavier (Sheila) Nehus, Vanessa Nehus (Trevor Philip), Amanda (Bud) McMillion, Zachary (Stephanie) Nehus and Ezechiel (Jennifer) Nehus, all of whom survive him.

He was a complicated man, but at his heart James was an entrepreneur, who started and ran numerous businesses in the Paris community. He was known to hold firm convictions and was resolute in his pursuits. He found his true calling later in life feeding the world as a chicken and beef farmer.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas (Kathy) Nehus. In addition to his wife and children, James is survived by: his brothers, Daniel (Sandria) and William (Kathy) Nehus; 28 grandchildren - Jacob Nehus, Madeline Nehus, Elijah Nehus, Mariah Nehus, Andrea Ashley, Lauren Wray, Kayla Sampson, Daniel Nehus, Savannah Nehus, Cooper Nehus, Marcia Polett, Brenna Raney, Jonathon Raney, Destini VanMeter , Kelly VanMeter, Caleb Nehus, Rebecca Nehus, Audrey McMillion, Noah McMillion Andrew Nehus, James Nehus, Julia Nehus, Olivia Nehus, Isabella Nehus, Arawen Nehus, Joshua Nehus, Evangeline Nehus and Solomon Nehus; 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A rosary and funeral mass will celebrate his life at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Paris Arkansas at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 25th.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic School, 15 S Spruce Street, Paris, AR 72855.
