Sammy ''Sam'' Lynn Reynolds Sr of Mayflower, AR (previously of Conway, AR) left this earth for his heavenly home Friday, September 20, 2024 at 5 pm with his wife and children at his side. He was born in Hattieville, AR on Saturday, January 15, 1944 to the late William Artie and Annice Lucille (McReynolds) Reynolds.
Sam was a born again Christian and was baptized in 1957 in a pond at Hattieville. He grew up in Hattieville and graduated from Wonder View High School in May 1962. After graduation, he moved to Hammond, Indiana and worked as a gas station attendant and in construction before settling at Youngstown Steel Mill. He met his future wife in Hammond at Jim's Drive-In on Saturday, March 23, 1963 and married her on Friday, May 01, 1964. In 1968 they relocated to Morrilton, AR where he worked at the cotton mill. In September 1969 he was hired by Kimberly-Clark (Conway Mills) to be on the startup team in 1970 as a maintenance man/line leader and was eventually promoted to Mill Supervisor in 1975 and remained in this position until he retired in 2000. In the 70's he drove a church bus, picking up kids for several years while attending Bethel Baptist Church. He last attended New Hope Baptist Church on Hwy 64 E. He loved to read, listen to music, sing, play his guitar and spend time with his family. He was a jokester and loved to play pranks and tell stories. He became a Mason in 1975 and was a 30th degree Master Mason of the Green Grove Lodge 107 upon his death.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, William ''Hick'' Reynolds, Kay Mac Reynolds, Dickie Reynolds, Barry ''Hootie'' Reynolds and Randall ''Hot Rod'' Reynolds and his sister, Ruth Elaine Greer.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bertha, of 60 years; His son, Sammy Reynolds, Jr (Johnette) and his daughter, Karen Reynolds Bartlett (Kevin). He has two grandsons, Stephen and Christopher Reynolds (Ayslynn). He has three surviving siblings, Eddie Reynolds (Carolyn), Allene Johnson and Rita Jones (Joe) and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Special thanks to Crystal Barnett and her staff at Seeds of Love and Faith in Greenbrier where he spent the last few months of his life and was cared for and loved by all who worked there. Thank you to Superior Rehab and Nursing in Conway where he spent several months in rehab and was well cared for there as well.
There will be no visitation per his request. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at Crestlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Conway on Hwy 64 E. In lieu of flowers, we request you make a donation to the Alzheimer's Foundation in Sam's name or to your favorite charity.
