Aubrey Ray Simpson, 83, entered into eternal rest on September 12, 2024 in his birthplace of Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was born on Independence Day, July 4, 1941, a fitting beginning for a man who would go on to serve his county with honor. Having dedicated two years to the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict, Mr. Simpson embodied the virtues of courage and patriotism. His military tenure was a testament to his strength of character and his unwavering commitment to duty. Following his service, Mr. Simpson established himself as a masterful heavy equipment operator. His excellence in this demanding profession was recognized by all who worked alongside him. He approached every task with a level of precision and dedication that earned him great admiration.

Mr. Simpson's industrious nature was balanced by his love for the tranquility of the outdoors. Horseback riding through the trails, fishing in serene waters and hunting in the quiet woods were cherished pastimes that he enjoyed. These moments spent in nature were a source of solace and contentment for him.

A pillar of strength for his family, Mr. Simpson was especially devoted to his daughter, Kristie and his granddaughter, Nicole. The love and care he extended to them will remain as a guiding light.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Mr. Simpson's memory will be treasured in the hearts of those he touched.

Mr. Simpson was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Moore Simpson and an infant brother, Jerry Dean Simpson.

Those left behind to cherish the wonderful memories of Mr. Simpson include his daughter, Kristie Lynn (Mike) Dewitt; granddaughter, Nicole (Mason) Simpson; mother and grandmother to Kristie and Nicole, Betty Hopkins; brothers, Kenneth Eugene, Richard Raymond, Leon Landrith and Leonard Dale and sisters, Mary Ann, Vera Loretta, Alfreda Fay, Charlotte Kay, Patricia Louise and Vivian Gail.

Chapel services will be 2 pm Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro. Burial will follow at Trinity Cemetery in Bono.

Visitation will precede the service and begin at 1 pm.
