Thomas Daniel Carter, Jr., 95, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024 in Hot Springs, AR. Thomas was born June 24, 1929 in Pleasant Valley, Arkansas to the late Thomas Daniel Sr. and Edna Carter.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Arkansas State Teachers' College (now UCA) in 1951 and his Master of Industrial Arts from Peabody University in 1952.

On June 21, 1952 he married Gladys Mae Laycook and they were married 71 years when she passed on December 6, 2023. Another major milestone was being drafted into the United States Army in December of 1952. He served for 2 years and was a cook in the service and learned to crack 4 eggs (two hands) at a time. His family was also treated to pies he learned to make in the Army.

He was a member of Conway's First Baptist Church and in earlier years, attended Geyer Springs First Baptist Church where he and Gladys kept 18-month-old babies in the nursery.

Thomas retired from the United States Army Corps of Engineers as a draftsman, following a career spanning from 1955-1985. He was an avid golfer and loved fishing and bowling.

Thomas is survived by his daughters, Pamela Rogers (Clifford) and Deborah Sanders (Charles); grandchildren, Zachary Sanders, Austin (Cara) Sanders, Daniel Rogers and Aaron (Audra) Rogers; great-grandchildren, Bethany Sanders, Jude Sanders, Olivia Sanders, Liam Sanders, Mollie Mae Rogers, Maxwell Wayne and Allison Kay Rogers; his brother, Jerry Carter (Matilda) of Texas and a host of nephews and nieces.
