Vera Ferguson

of Benton, AR

February 8, 1939 - August 18, 2024

Vera Ferguson, was born February 8, 1939 in Bryant, Arkansas and passed away on August 18, 2024 at her residence in Benton, Arkansas. Vera along with her three sisters, Mom, Dad and grandmother lived off Boone road in Bryant.
They lived a simple country lifestyle filled with family fun and hard work. In those early days, she loved to play basketball and was a cheerleader for the Bryant Hornets. She met Curtis soon after graduation and they were married in 1960.

Vera and Curtis were very busy not only starting their family with Wyatt and Bart, but also opening the furniture store. She loved the work and interior design. She and Curtis would travel every chance they could. According to the boys, there were many long and boring weekend road trips looking at furniture stores and OLD houses. This is where she gleaned bits and pieces of details creating her own style.

She loved to go antiquing and had many fun filled days with her friends searching for that next treasure. She was a woman of confidence, deep conviction and faith. She knew exactly what she liked and had no problem standing up for it.

She along with her father-in-law, George Ferguson and Uncle, Boose Nalley, built houses and did remodeling projects. If you drive down River Street where she lived, you will see the fruits of her labor. She preserved the neighborhood she so dearly loved. Vera restored homes along River, Jackman, Richards, Maple and Westbrook Streets, adding a white picket fence in front of each as a finishing touch. She had the gift of taking something old and bringing it back to life. Vera was the original ''Joanna Gaines''.

Saturday mornings at Aunt Christine's breakfast and quilting was always a highlight. She loved her family, her kids, grand kids, great grand kids, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and spent a lot of time with them.

She loved Christmas and we all looked forward to Christmas at Nannie's! She prepared for Christmas all year long! From vintage decor to unique personal gifts, it was a dreamy experience! Traditions galore. ''Hurry'' was not allowed. We sat and visited and enjoyed our Christmas dinner and great conversation! She was the Queen of Christmas!

''Mom you lived life to the fullest and wore a lot of hats in the process. A task that would have been impossible for most, all the while keeping Dad in Line!''

Vera was born Feb 8, 1939 to Gordon and Hazel Richardson of Bryant. She is preceded in death by her husband, Curtis; parents and sisters, Lavern Cole, Nancy Williams and Linda Brod. She is survived by sons, Wyatt (Lynn), Bart (Kimberly); grandkids, Kyle (Christen), Kurt (Lindsay). Kelly (Connor), Clark (Taylor), Sam & Caroline and great-grandkids, Hadley, Harper, Roni & Tripp Ferguson, Luke, Grant & Will Smithson.
