of Conway, AR
May 9, 1927 - August 13, 2024
Mary Magdalene Knopp was born on May 9, 1927 in Bee Branch, Arkansas to the late Joe Fleming and Ola Wilkes Fleming. She went to be with the Lord on August 13, 2024 in Conway, Arkansas.
Our beloved Mother and 'Mamaw' lived a very fulfilled 97 years before joining her loved ones in Heaven. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Knopp; one son, Johnny Knopp; one grandson, Christopher Knopp and one sister, Jerita Kersey.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Janis Newman (Frank) of Conway; two grandsons, Chuck Newman (Stephani) of Conway and Nick Newman (Morgan) of Vilonia; as well as nine great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Reba Parish of Bee Branch and Ladon Bonds of Damascus. Mary also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews whom she was very close to. She was very proud of her family, as was evident when she would hold one of her great-grandchildren or great-great-grandchildren. Her laughter was contagious and she taught her family what love can and should be. She loved her family with all of her heart and even after her loved ones passed, her love for them carried on through conversations and shared memories and her family could always feel her warmth and compassion. She was a true matriarch and will be greatly missed.
Mary was a longtime member of Brumley Baptist Church in Conway. Her physical health restricted her from attending church in recent years, but her love for the Lord never wavered. She was a faithful Christian. For many years she devoted herself to SAS Shoe Factory in Conway. She met many lifelong friends there and she was known by all to be a hard-working and committed employee, co-worker and friend.
One of the best ways she loved her family and friends was through cooking. If you were at Mamaw's house, she was going to feed you. We will always cherish the sweet memories of her chicken and dressing, homemade biscuits and gravy, fried squash and okra, butter roll dessert and many other dishes she would comfort the family with over the years. Another one of her greatest past-times was watching and cheering for the Razorbacks. During football and basketball season, you could always find her watching. When they were not playing, you could find her sitting outside on her porch, watching and admiring nature. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Her life was lived with love, which will be an inspiration to us all going forward. We can rejoice in the promise that her journey has not ended with death and we will carry on her legacy while she waits for us in Heaven.
We will celebrate the life of Mary Magdalene Knopp at 11:00am on Monday, August 19, 2024 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 10:00am. Interment will immediately follow the service at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Conway.
