Lynda Hensley Bowie, 73 years old, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 12, 2024 at about 740pm. She was surrounded by her daughters, grandson, sister and other family members. Lynda had a tough battle this past year that began with uterine cancer that had metastasized. Throughout her journey in this life and even until the end, Lynda clung to her faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and wore a smile that could brighten an entire room.
Lynda is survived by her daughter, Heather Pannell and husband, Dan Pannell; daughter, Jeanna Danduran and husband, Jerry Danduran; grandson, Jacob Palmer and 3 siblings, Julie Fetty, Michael Hensley and Bobby Hensley. Lynda grew up in a large household and was one of 14 children. She is preceded in death by 10 siblings. Lynda married Roger Bowie at the age of 21 and remained married to the love of her life until his passing in 2015. She gained another large family in the Bowie family, as Roger was one of 10 children. Lynda loved both of her families and cherished her times with them.
Lynda was a member of House of Prayer Church for 40 years and her faith in God helped her overcome many health issues and struggles in this life. She loved to spread the gospel and the peace she had from her faith shown in her every action. She loved to laugh and was a very giving and loving person. She opened her home to many and tried to help anyone in need. Lynda loved her church family and was very close to many people.
Lynda loved her daughters, grandson and family members. She cherished family meals and times when she could visit with both sides of the family. Her family cherished her as well and thought of her as a treasure. Lynda also loved gardening, flowers and vegetables, loved having plants indoors, spending time outside in the snow during the winter. She loved to decorate and would decorate the inside and outside of her home brightly and beautifully during holidays. She loved movie and snack nights with her daughters and grandson and enjoyed reading every day. Her collection of books takes up about 2 whole rooms. She also loved to play cards and dominos and would often play card games with family. Lynda loved music, including gospel, 50's and 60's music and would often dance around the kitchen and living room making her family giggle. She had battled with asthma since childhood and had been hospitalized many times in her life due to her weak lungs, but she did not let that stop her. She often traveled with her husband while he was alive and has been to many states and other countries. She enjoyed showing her daughters new places and traveling for fun with her sisters and daughters. Her daughters thought of her as their sunshine and loved spending as much time as they could with her.
While the family grieves and will miss her smile and amazing heart every day, they find peace in knowing she is reunited with her husband and is now in Heaven with her savior.
The family would like to offer a sincere thank you to Arkansas Hospice and their nurses, Nurse Heather at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock and Dr. Tsuda and the nurses at Conway Hematology and Oncology. Many thanks are also given to Julie Fetty, Janet Hensley and Ramona McDaniel for their devotion in helping during the last weeks of Lynda's time here.
A Memorial service will be held at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier on Saturday, August 17th at 2pm, directly followed by a Meal given by House of Prayer in the church reception hall. We invite everyone to attend.
