Raymond Wells, known affectionately as Ray, passed away on August 6, 2024 at the age of 83 in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Born on February 10, 1941 in Thayer, Missouri, he was the beloved son of the late David W. and Ima Pearl Wells. Ray was also preceded in death by his brothers, LaRue, Gene, Lawrence and Darrell Wells.
Ray served honorably in the US Army, dedicating himself to his nation. After his military service, he embarked on a notable career spanning 36 years at Baxter Lab, where he was respected for his dedication and work ethic.
Beyond his professional life, Ray was a man of many artistic talents. He had a passion for dancing, wood carving, welding and playing the guitar. His creative spirit was evident in everything he touched, and he was always eager to explore new artistic endeavors. Ray was also a member of the Masons. He attended Mountain Home High School and attended the Bar None Cowboy Church in Midway, Arkansas.
A gentle soul, Ray cherished the art of storytelling and had a profound love for his family. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jean Smithson Wells; daughters, Angel Stout Pandovani and Brandy Crawford Letterman; grandchildren, Aria Rosson, Sadie Letterman and Noah Letterman; great-grandson, Caiden Gibson and son-in-law, Allester Padovani. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will miss his generous spirit and loving nature.
Ray's life will be celebrated between 2-3pm on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Roller Funeral Home in Mountain Home with a service to follow. A private burial at Roselawn Cemetery in Calico Rock, Arkansas will take place at a later date. His legacy of love, artistry and kindness will forever be cherished and remembered by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House.
