Boyd "Skip" Anderson TackettI am a Veteran.

of Conway, AR

January 31, 1940 - July 13, 2024

Boyd Anderson ''Skip'' Tackett, 84, of Conway, AR, died on July 13, 2024. He was born January 31, 1940, in Hot Springs, Arkansas to Boyd Anderson and Norma Armstrong Tackett and was raised in Nashville along with his sisters, Terri, Becky, and Toni. During this time the family relocated to Washington DC while Skip's father was serving in Congress and eventually ran for Governor. While in DC, Skip conducted tours of the White House. This position was a perfect fit for Skippy to meet hundreds of people and fine-tune his storytelling skills. The Tacketts eventually relocated to Texarkana in 1953 where Skip graduated from Arkansas High School and went on to play football for the Arkansas Razorbacks in 1958. Skip later graduated from the South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas. He practiced with family in Texarkana and other firms in Houston before settling in Conway with his wife, Stairley Post Tackett, in 1985.

Skip was preceded in death by many as his family and friends were shocked he lived as long as he did. He loved life and was grateful to enjoy the bounty it had to offer. From chicken fried steak, plates of purple-hull peas and cornbread, to a stiff drink of scotch, all topped with a delicious banana split. He considered life a party and not something to take too seriously.

Skip had a vibrant personality. He always had an idea to explore and a plan to plot. From emerald mines in South America to sugar cane farms in Nigeria, he explored them all and he had multiple stories about each one that always included a few big laughs.

He fought hard for the underdog and treated everyone with respect. His parents came from humble beginnings and although he was raised quite the opposite, as he aged he knew he took it for granted but he learned to appreciate all that he was given. He became very humble as he matured. He taught all of his children to seek justice in situations and be aware that we are all humans just trying to do the best we can. There was little judgment in him, if any at all.

The day before his life ended he raved about how lucky we all were to have been given lives that were charmed with financial independence, decent health, and intelligence. He was proud of his sisters, nephews, nieces, children, stepchildren and their families, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He felt fortunate in the friendships he made over his lifetime and often bragged about them. Skippy was generous with praise and often told people he appreciated and loved them. He shared his emotions freely and even in the worst of times would help people find joy.
