June 26, 2024 - July 13, 2024
Jace Everett Tackett left the arms of Gavin and Melissa Tackett and went straight into Jesus' arms on July 13, 2024.
Jace, known as JET from his initials, was born June 26, 2024. During his 17 days on earth, he touched many lives all over the country, bringing joy to his family and their friends in ways few could fathom.
Jace entered this world weighing 13.1 ounces, one of the smallest babies to survive delivery. But his size didn't stop him from becoming a giant in the hearts of so many. For a week leading up to his birth and the 17 days of his life, every day revealed a miracle that surrounded him.
Jace fought hard for 17 days. He proved everyone wrong almost every hour of that time. Jace wasn't supposed to survive delivery. Jace wasn't supposed to survive 24 hours. There were times when he wasn't supposed to make it to the next hour and he continued to fight. Jace wasn't supposed to make it 17 days.
In those times, his family and so many friends fell to their knees and prayed for God's healing hands to heal him once more. Those prayers from churches, bible study groups, families and friends, unified and focused so many hearts. They were so profound that 13.1 ounces and a fighting heart became a giant in their lives, reminding us of the power of prayer, mercy and love.
We always knew God had a big plan for Jace's story, even though he is no longer with us on earth. Our prayers were heard, even when the final one wasn't the answer we wanted. God has a purpose for His answer, even if it's as simple as a 13.1-ounce baby boy making a huge impact on so many lives in a short period of time.
By the 17th day, Jace's little heart couldn't take it anymore. Our hearts are broken but we know he is no longer in pain. We know his impact will remain with so many. We are thankful for the time we had and the moments of sheer joy he gave us. Jace will always live in our hearts.
Jace is survived by his father and mother, Gavin and Melissa Tackett; big brother, Beau; grandparents, Julie Benafield, Steve and Barbara Bowman, Nicki Tackett, Phillip and Karyn Tackett; along with a large extended family.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Strebeck with Cornerstone Clinic for Women and the Baptist NICU for their dedication to Jace's care. An announcement regarding memorials will be made at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Roller Drummond Funeral Home, 10900 Interstate 30. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2 pm Thursday, July 18, 2024 in the Chapel at Immanuel Baptist Church, 501 N Shackleford Rd.
