Laura Frances Bogan Miller

Laura Frances Miller, 92, of Little Rock, passed away in her home Monday, June 10, 2024. Laura was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was born in Memphis, TN as the only child of Douglas and Maxine Cohen on March 7, 1932. She graduated from Little Rock Senior High School, where she won silver band award as first-chair clarinet, played Hammond organ, and met the love of her life, Bert O. Miller. Laura and Bert were married November 25, 1950, and celebrated 73 anniversaries.

Laura attended nurse's training at the Methodist Medical Center in Memphis, TN, later earning her certificate as an X-Ray Technician at University of Arkansas Medical School. Laura worked at Arkansas Children's Home & Hospital as an X-Ray technician under Superintendent Ruth Beall. As a member of First Baptist Church in Little Rock, she learned American Sign Language to teach a class of children with impaired hearing, and signed for all hymns sung in morning and evening services. Laura served as Worthy Matron of Adah Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star and as Grand Esther at Grand Chapter. At age 50, Laura began to study oil painting, and she had an exhibit of 119 of her paintings in 2015 at Guachoya Cultural Art Museum in Lake Village, AR.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents. She will be held in memory by her loving husband, her sister (Sarah Cumnock, husband Mike of Hot Springs and their daughter Mara), and her daughters and their families: Sarita Sullivan and Tim Sullivan of Little Rock; Renee Easterwood and husband Terry, of Bryan, TX; Tanya Miller-Bradham and husband Mark, of Little Rock; and LaBerta Russell and husband Randy, of Lake Village, AR. She was loved dearly by all of her family (including seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren), and extended family and friends. Grandchildren: Laura Stanley (husband Jon), Cody Beight (wife Katie), Jeff Easterwood (wife Ashley), Kelsey Beight, Chris Beasley (wife Mariah), Carrie Sullivan, and Cole Sullivan. Great-Grandchildren: Leah Bragg, Ethan Stanley, Connor Bragg, Cera Easterwood, Jack Stanley, Lily Easterwood, Gabriella Beight, Brendon Beasley, Sawyer Beight, Savannah Beight, Evan Stanley, Melody Fricks, and Motley Joyner.

The family wishes to express their thanks to loving caregivers Paula Thompson, Blanchie Grayson and Ivory Smith, and Hospice Homecare professionals who assisted with devoted and gracious care at the residence.
