Billie Sue Supeter

of Mountain Home, AR

November 19, 1928 - May 19, 2024

Lifelong Arkansan and longtime Mountain Home resident, Billie Supeter, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 19 in Rogers, Arkansas. She was 95.

Billie Sue Pratt was born on November 19,1928 in Pocahontas, Arkansas, to James Luther ''Lute'' Pratt and Mazie Gibson Pratt. Billie graduated from Pocahontas High School in 1946 and began her career in banking which she thoroughly enjoyed. She earned an A.A.S.B.A. from NACC. In Mountain Home, she was employed at First National Bank & Trust and Home Federal Savings & Loan Association from which she retired in 1989.

While working and raising a large family, Billie found time to be active in many community organizations, often holding leadership roles. Among these were the Committee of 100 for the Ozark Folk Center (Acquisitions Chairman), National Association of Bank Women, American Heart Association (Memorial Chairman for 30 years), American Cancer Association, St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, PTA and Band Boosters.

Everyone who knew Billie, knew her to be vivacious, talented, smart, never intimidated by a challenge and quick to find the humor in any situation. Her abundant energy fueled her many passions, such as playing competitive bridge. Besides her regular games (as often as five times a week) in Mountain Home, she played regionally, internationally and online. In 2010, she achieved ACBL Silver Life Master. When bridge lessons were added to Mountain Home High School extracurricular activities, she was there to assist students and encourage them to stick with it.

Billie was an avid fan of Arkansas Razorback football and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. It's no wonder red became her signature color. Along with her favorite sports teams, Billie had a special place in her heart for horses, having had her own horse named Sligo as a young girl. As an adult, horse racing at Oaklawn was a favorite time of the year. One spring when she was meeting her daughters at the track, one said to the other, ''Look for someone dressed from head to toe in red.'' They spotted her immediately.

For such an energetic person, Billie also knew how to slow down. She delighted in fishing at area lakes and rivers with her children and grandchildren. She was even known to keep a rod, reel and tackle box in her car trunk, just in case an opportunity arose.

Travel was another of Billie's favorite things to do. She traveled the United States, Canada (worked in a little fishing there), Argentina and Italy (played bridge), England and France. She loved visiting museums and churches, shopping boutiques, and eating and drinking as the locals.

Billie was a voracious reader, lover of music and an expert seamstress. She enjoyed completing the daily crossword puzzle and holiday baking. Sitting on her back porch, sometimes with a glass of wine, she made it a point to identify the various types of birds coming to her bird feeders.

Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Supeter and son Danny Dust. She is survived by sons David Dust and Jess Hall (Dianna) of Mountain Home and daughters Marilyn Gilchrist (Ken) of Rogers, Arkansas and Martha Miller (John) of Valencia, Spain. She is also survived by seven grandchildren Aaron Dust, Amanda Dust, and Adrienne Blackwell (Marc) all of Mountain Home and Rob Gilchrist (Salle-Anne), Will Gilchrist (Rae-Ann), James Gilchrist, and Nate Miller, all of Rogers. Five great grandchildren include Kelsey Blackwell, Addison Blackwell and Scott Robert Dust of Mountain Home and Charlie-Anne Gilchrist and Meryl Gilchrist of Rogers. She is also survived by her sister Mary Wineland of Bonita Springs, Florida.

A private service was held with interment at Baxter Memorial Gardens. The family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the excellent and loving care from nurses, staff and administrators at Primrose Memory Care in Rogers. It was Billie's wish that any memorial tributes be made to a library or charity of one's choice.
