Susan "Susu" Salkeld Ralls

of Conway, AR

November 24, 1949 - May 14, 2024

Susan Ralls, known affectionately as ''Susu'', passed on to her Heavenly home on May 14th, 2024, at the age of 74.

Born on November 24, 1949, in Atkins, AR, she was a ''pickled turkey'' since Atkins was the pickle capital of AR and born on Thanksgiving!

She was preceded in death by her father Frank Salkeld, step-father Charles Pearce, her brother James Salkeld, brother-in-law Bill Gunn, brother-in-love Johnny Butler and nephew Jason Yates.

Susan was born to Frank & Virginia Salkeld, and grew up with the best brother and two sisters around. She often told stories of her big brother James being so tough and cool, no one wanted to date his sisters! Susan was the tomboy of the family, independent , spontaneous and fun with a little spice, all characteristics that remained through her life. She continued to be very close with all three siblings and her Mother & Charlie. We are cherishing the memories made from trips to the beach and Alabama to see family, playing poker and card games, fishing on Lake Ouachita, and most of all attending Little Rock Bop Club & Spa City Bop Club for dancing! Susan was blessed with cousins and friends she loved dearly, the best part is to hear the stories of fun and how our mom was such a ''rebel'' ha! She knew life was short and took full advantage of what God gave her!

Susan was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Conway, where she led Sunday school activities, coaching and playing softball! You'll often hear stories of how she organized the most amazing parties, a few noteworthy ones were Phoebe Church's bachelorette party and the day her explorer turned 200k miles, it was always over the top!

Growing up in NLR, she attended Gardner Memorial United Methodist Church with her family. She was a graduate of North Little Rock High School, a proud Wildcat, Class of 1967. She went on to receive a BA in Accounting at UCA in Conway, AR while starting a family. Susan lived and worked many years in the corporate world of ATT Teletype and Alltel in Little Rock, AR while raising her family in Conway, AR. After an abrupt layoff, she pivoted to a new career and joined her daughter in Freeport, FL in 2005 where she became a Real Estate Broker and opened Pinwheel Real Estate. In 2007 she moved to Hot Springs, AR to continue her Real Estate career and met some of her best friends while doing so! She eventually transitioned back to Conway to be closer to her family and continue real estate. In September 2018, as she was planning to enjoy retirement and unhitching her camper at the lake in Hot Springs, she became ill which started the whole journey of sickness the past 6 years. Although she endured a ton of health challenges she earned the nickname of the ''Comeback Kid''.

No matter the titles or struggles she endured, she did it all because of her 3 children; Todd Ralls (Lacey) from Crawfordsville, IA, Calvin (Jocelyn) from Quitman, AR & Jacquelyn (Rob) from Freeport, FL, and 5 beautiful grandchildren; Lauren, Mason, Marleigh, Miles & Callie. She found joy in their lives by spending time with them and was well documented in videos and pictures how well she loved life with them, her smile lit up the room, even til her last days. She was so proud of the parents her kids became and was given the time to speak the words of love to each of them. Her 5 grandchildren knew who the fun and loving Susu was, they were hugged, spoiled and have great memories too. Growing up, our whole family referenced the love and joy felt from my Moms ''MommaOatesie'' which was her maternal grandmother. Susu felt that love from her and continued her legacy by giving us memories that will last a lifetime, bringing joy, laughter and some tears. Susu squeezed all the life out of her 74 years. God gave us such a gift that even in the midst of pain and suffering, we can find peace and joy. We are blessed.

A visitation will be held at Roller McNutt Funeral Home, 650 Central Landing Blvd., Conway, AR 72032, 5-7pm on Saturday, June 1st, 2024. A memorial service will be at Havana Cemetery in Havana, AR for family only, 10am on Sunday, June 2nd, 2024.

Our Susu is irreplaceable and will leave a void in all of our lives, yet her journey towards eternal peace brings us comfort.

As you always said, Love you to the moon…
we will always love you….
our sweet Mom.
