of Louisville, KY
June 17, 1935 - April 27, 2024
Tony Jefferson McAfee, Jr, also known as just Tony, TJ, Papaw, Daddy and Uncle TJ, passed into his eternal rest early Saturday morning April 27, 2024 at the age of 88. He had a life well lived and he was a man well loved. We will all miss his smile, his stories and the twinkle in his eye. TJ was met there by his wife, Mary Alice of 62 years and his son, Todd McAfee that he hadn't seen in 37 years. Also there before him waiting were his parents, Tony and Mattie McAfee; his sisters, Ruth Gwynn, Clotilde Evans, Dorothy Wilson, Lou Wingfield, Virginia Heiman and brother; Billy Joe McAfee. They all grew up in Wilson, Arkansas. Tony was most recently a resident of Louisville, Kentucky in his retirement. In Louisville he enjoyed volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and Locust Grove. In the course of his Agricultural and property management career, they lived in Alto, Louisiana; Perry, Georgia and Jacksonville, Florida. TJ and Mary Alice were quite the team and made many friends wherever they lived. TJ and Mary Alice lived in Wilson, Arkansas from their early married life until 1977. He worked for Lee Wilson and Company farming and in the Petrol Products Division. They were active in the Wilson United Methodist Church with many friends and family in the community. In Wilson he leaves behind his sister in law, Ann McAfee, widow of Billy Joe McAfee and nephew, Scott McAfee. Tony is survived by daughter, Allison and her husband, James Spurgeon of Louisville, Kentucky. He cherished his three grandchildren - Todd Spurgeon, Miranda Spurgeon and Shelby and Frank Muntis who gave him the great blessing of knowing his great granddaughter, Rosemary Elizabeth just this last year. TJ is also survived by two sisters, Toni Pullen Downs of Jacksonville, Florida and Suzie Robinson of Daytona Beach, Florida and many nieces and nephews. Tony as many knew him in Louisville, was faithfully active at Christ Church United Methodist and a vital part of the Pathfinders Sunday School Class. Their motto was ''If you're still here, God has something for you to do.''. Funeral Services are to be held at Roller-Swift Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Donations may be made to Wilson Methodist Church. Tony touched so many lives and will be greatly missed!
