Virginia "Ginny" Worley

of Walnut Ridge, AR

January 28, 1939 - April 27, 2024

Virginia ''Ginny'' Pauline Jordan Worley, age 85, died peacefully on April 27th, 2024.

Ginny was born to Dorothy and David Jordan on January 28,1939 in Egypt, Arkansas. She was the middle of 9 children. Her family lived and worked on a cotton farm and it has been said that Ginny and her brother, Robert could pick more cotton than any of them, always competing for the top spot. Throughout her life, without a doubt, she was the hardest worker her family knew.

Ginny married Hubert Worley on October 10,1958 and they had three children, Darryl Glenn, Kimberly Annette and Cathi Lynne. Hubert and Ginny worked together to manage Tyson Farms in Springdale, Arkansas and later, they managed motels in El Dorado, Arkansas and Norton, Kansas. They moved back to Egypt in 1996 where Ginny began working for Jr. Foods and caring tirelessly for her husband until his death on August 13, 2006.

She loved her childhood church, Egypt Baptist, where she returned when she moved back. Her love for the Lord shone brightly to those around her. Ginny was known for her love of people and one way she demonstrated this was through her cooking. A family favorite was her incredible homemade yeast donuts. If you never had the opportunity to taste one, you sure missed out! At the heart of the Worley home was laughter, rooted in Ginny's humor. Her one-liners and pranks were abundant. It wasn't uncommon, while minding your own business, for her to send a dish towel soaring across the room, whacking you right in the head. Her children loved every minute of it. And don't even get them started on the butt-pinching, another way she brought fun (and a tiny bit of pain) into the home.

When Ginny had free time, she loved to sew, quilt, crochet, journal, read the Bible and read fiction novels. One of her true gifts was writing poetry. If you were ever a recipient of one of her poems and many of you were, her words were like honey to the heart. These poems captured life in a meaningful way, specific to each person she gifted with her words.

Ginny joined the Lawrence Hall Nursing Home Family in March 2019 due to Parkinson's disease, where she lived out the last 5 years of her life. We want to add that this place was indeed a family. The care Ginny received was second to none, and she loved being there. In the early years, she could be seen walking the halls with a following of friends as she greeted everyone she encountered.

Though she will be missed in more ways than can be imagined, her children count it an honor to carry her legacy on.

Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and David Jordan; her husband, Hubert Worley; brothers, Robert and James Jordan and sisters, Maudie Spurlock, Lallie Blankenship, Thelma Becker and Bessie Fagan.

She is survived by her children, son, Darryl Worley and his wife, Annabelle; daughters, Kimberly Nerios and her husband, Jim and Cathi Domingue and her husband, Royce; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and many friends, family and loved ones.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10am on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Roller Farmers Union Funeral Home 1900 W. Washington Ave. Jonesboro, AR 72401.
