Sis Joy Ray Ealy was born on June 5, 1929, in Damascus, Arkansas. She was the eldest child of Will Henry and Margret Morris.
Joy was lovingly called Mrs. Joy, Mama Joy, or Grandma Joy by all who knew her. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Solomon Grove Baptist Church where she remained a member until her death.
She worked faithfully as a deaconess, president of the youth department, director of the youth choir, a member of the women mission, a member of the adult choir and worked with the culinary committee. She also worked faithfully in the Cypress Creek District in various positions. Over the years her generosity and kind spirit touched many lives. She was always busy in her community and church. Her smile would light up the room. Her singing voice touched the lives of many.
During her life she had many job opportunities including a nurse's aide at Conway Regional Hospital, a paraprofessional at CHDC (formally Arkansas Children Colony) working with the deaf and blind, a cook at Guy Perkins High School and a paraprofessional for Arkansas Better Chance (ABC program).
Her hobbies were cooking and gardening. She loved beautiful plants and flowers.
She leaves to cherish her memory four sons, Harmon Ealy (Robin) of Twin Groves, Arkansas, Dwight Ealy (Gail) of Springfield, Arkansas, Wilbur Ealy (Joann) of Springhill, Arkansas, Dwan Henderson of Frisco, Texas; one daughter, Donna Benson (Larry) of Ft. Worth, Texas; three sisters, Dorothy Owens of Los Angeles, California, Willie Foster of Twin Groves, Arkansas, Jane Austin of San Pedro, California; 18 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 57 years, Hillard D. Ealy; 3 daughters, Freda Ealy Johnson, Janice Ealy Henderson, Barbara L. Ealy; 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
There will be a 12:00pm visitation on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Solomon Grove Baptist Church in Twin Groves, Arkansas. Immediately followed by Funeral Services at 1:00pm. The burial will be at Solomon Grove Cemetery in Twin Groves.
