Darrell Gene Pemberton, age 81, of Marshall, Arkansas passed from this life on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Baptist Health Hospital in Conway, Arkansas with his family at his side. He was born in Marshall, Arkansas on September 20, 1942 to Charlie and Eller Horton Pemberton. Darrell married the love of his life, Lena Rainbolt Pemberton on July 5, 1961. They then welcomed two daughters, Angela Renee Pemberton Johnson and Gena Lenee Pemberton Wallis.
Darrell graduated from Marshall High School in1960 and went straight to work. He spent his life on the road as an over the road truck driver for many different companies. He loved his work life, but valued his family even more. He was a deacon in the Baptist Church and a current member of Morning Star Baptist. Darrell lived his life for the Lord and would tell anyone he met about his Savior and share his testimony. In his spare time, he could be found taking care of the family farm, his grandchildren and even in front of the television enjoying Razorback sports. His caring, generous and loving heart will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of almost 63 years, Lena Rainbolt Pemberton of Marshall; his two children, Angie Johnson (Roger) of Marshall, Gena Wallis (Tony) of Gassville; five grandchildren, Andrea Wallis, Erika Treat (Justin), Corey Wallis, Jordan Banasiak (Doug) and Rylie Johnson and five great-grandchildren, Keegan Wallis, Keeley Rose, Jordan James, Ashlyn and Kobe Banasiak. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Eller Pemberton; in-laws, George and Blanche Rainbolt; three brothers, J.C., Devon and Charlie Pemberton; sister, Birthel Stephenson and infant son, Sam Pemberton.
Funeral services for Darrell will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 6th, 2024 at East Lawn Cemetery in Marshall, Arkansas where he will be laid to rest beside his parents. Bro. Rick Montgomery will officiate. Pallbearers will be Corey Wallis, Keegan Wallis, Roger Johnson, Justin Treat, Cory Treadwell and Jeff Rainbolt. Honorary pallbearers will be Albert Maze, Alan Maze, Tony Wallis, Norbert Novak, Joe Dale Ward and the McDonald's Coffee Crew. A special thank you to Sonny Woods, all of those that brought food, gifts, sent comforting messages and above all, the numerous prayers for the family during this tumultuous time.
