of Benton, AR
October 5, 1944 - March 11, 2024
Paul Mitchell, 79, of Benton, Arkansas passed away March 11, 2024. He was born on October 5, 1944, in Morrilton, Arkansas as the youngest of five children and the only son to Retta and Eddie Mitchell. A year after Paul was born, his family moved to Dumas, Arkansas to pursue jobs in farming. He spent his days in the fields with his parents or playing with his clan of sisters. Paul's lifelong love of farming was born in Dumas and he ultimately went on to choose this as his career.
He is survived by his sister Barbara Levey, who describes her ''Bubba'' as ''a good and honest man''. He is preceded in death by his sisters Norma Jean Carter, Betty Williams, and Laverne Nealy.
Paul met his bride of 47 years, Paula Bogy, over a cheeseburger at her Dairy Queen outside Altheimer, Arkansas. Paul fell in love with Paula's delicious cooking and quick wit, and it is safe to say he was well fed and entertained for the entire 47 years of their union. Paul and Paula were married January 10, 1977 and went on to have three daughters. He worked in farming his entire life and even after he retired you could find him wearing a cowboy hat on a tractor or in the garden. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
Paul is survived by his wife Paula (Bogy) Mitchell as well as their daughters Lora Mitchell, Jessica Mitchell, and Jennifer Mitchell. Also surviving are his two daughters Tawanna (Mitchell) Hood and Shaun (Mitchell) Nail, as well as 5 grandsons, 3 granddaughters, and 3 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 am, Saturday, April 6, 2024 followed by the first annual Paul Mitchell Crawfish Boil at 7220 Anderson Street, Alexander, AR 72002.
