Margaret Butler Burrell died on February 18, 2024. Born March 10, 1928 to Noel and Gladys Butler in Vicksburg, Mississippi. After living in Jackson and Natchez, Mississippi, she moved to Benton, Arkansas in 1937. She graduated from Benton High School in 1946. She and Billie Sue Kauffman tied for class salutatorian. Margaret and Billie Sue (Sudie) were roommates at Stephens College for women in Columbia, Missouri and became sisters-in-law when they married brothers. After living in Southern California for 25 years she returned to Benton, Arkansas in 1982.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Noel Butler Jr.; Sister, Zilpah (Zip) Steed; her godchild and nephew, James Steed Jr. and her husbands, Eulos Holland and Ben Burrell.
She is survived by her son, Kurt Holland (Ramona); stepson, Jim Burrell; granddaughter, Amanda George (Collin); great grandson, Maddox and many more adored nieces, nephews and friends.
Margaret retired from the court system of San Bernardino County, California in 1981. She enjoyed playing bridge and volunteering. She was certified by the library of Congress as a braille transcriber, active in C.J Cohn and Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
On Saturday, February 24, 2024, the visitation will be held at 10am and the memorial service will be held at 11am both at Roller-Alcoa Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to the Arkansas School of the Blind or Our Lady of Fatima School student fund.
