Dorothea Wyatt Sheffield, resident of Batesville, AR, passed away at the age of 93 on February 10, 2024, in Jonesboro, AR. She was born on August 11, 1930, to Samuel and Clara (Kelley) Wyatt of Desha, AR.

Dorothea's journey began in Desha, where she graduated from high school before marrying R.L. Sheffield in 1948 in Batesville. She was a devoted homemaker and was employed at White Rogers, where she participated in basketball and bowling leagues. She later worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Norman Grammar and Dr. William Beller. Dorothea was a member of the Ozark Gaited Saddle Club, the Eastern Star, and the United Methodist Women's Circle. Her dedication extended to her long-standing membership and service at the Central Avenue Methodist Church.

Dorothea shared a passion for Missouri Fox Trotting horses with her beloved husband, R.L. Together, they delighted in showcasing their horses and found joy in attending auctions. She was renowned for her keen eye for antiques and collectibles. Above all, Dorothea's heart belonged to her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, cherishing holidays and every moment spent with her loved ones. Her sense of humor, love, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In the wake of Dorothea Wyatt Sheffield's passing, she was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Samuel and Clara Wyatt, her devoted husband of 69 years, R.L. Sheffield, one sister Winona Jones, three brothers A. Wayne Wyatt, Winford D. Wyatt and Jackie R. Wyatt Sr. and her cherished granddaughter Elizabeth Ann Atkinson of Daphne, AL.

Dorothea is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Richard Painter of Madison, MS, her granddaughter Brandie Painter Lieblong (Brad) of Jonesboro, AR, her grandson-in-law Russell Atkinson of Daphne, AL, and her brother Bobby Wyatt of Batesville , AR. She is also survived by her three great-grandchildren, Ally and Emma Atkinson, and Tyson Lieblong, who brought immense joy into her life along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A heartfelt thank you is extended to the staff of Woodcrest Assisted Living Facility in Batesville, AR, for their dedicated attention and kindness shown to Dorothea during her time there and also to the compassionate team at the St Bernard's Flo and Phil House of Jonesboro AR. who provided unwavering care during her final days. The family is also immensely grateful for the friendship and support of Harold and Joyce Nash.

A service will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, February 20th, at Central Avenue Methodist Church in Batesville officiated by Jesse James and Paul Seay. Burial will follow at Oaklawn cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Russell Atkinson, Stephen Baxter, Ken Jones, Brad Lieblong, Tyson Lieblong, Larry Meyer, and Ronnie Painter. Honorary pallbearers include Charles Barnett, Harold Nash, Dr. Ben Owens Jr., James Street Sr., Rocky Wilmuth, David Wyatt, J.R. Wyatt Jr., Mark Wyatt and Sam Wyatt.

Alternatively, contributions may also be made to the St. Bernard's Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House located at 1148 E. Matthews, Jonesboro, AR 72401.
