Ronald David Gammill, age 83, (Aug. 23, 1940-Feb 5, 2024) went to be with the Lord on Feb 5, 2024. He was born on August 23, 1940 to Samuel and Maxine (Meyers) Gammill in Marionville, Missouri.
He was a graduate of Marionville High School, a graduate of Southwest Baptist Junior College in 1963 and graduated with a BS in education from College of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas in 1965. He played basketball for both colleges. He met his wife, Helen (Bryant) at College of the Ozarks; they were married August 30, 1964 and had three daughters, Rhonda, Kelly and Dana. He was a teacher and coach at several schools in Arkansas and Missouri: Eureka Springs, Arkansas (1965-1972), Carthage, Missouri (1972-1973) and Marionville, Missouri (1973-1976). He also worked for Dayco in Springfield, Missouri (1976-1982). He then returned to teaching and coaching in Mtn. Home (1982-2002). He also worked as a park ranger for the US Army Corps of Engineers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Maxine Gammill of Marionville, Missouri; one sister and brother in law, Kay (Dale) Shoemaker of Aurora, Missouri; one niece. Kathy (Shoemaker) Emanuel and his eldest daughter, Rhonda (Gammill) Bouraeda of St. Louis, Missouri.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Helen (Bryant) Gammill of Mtn. Home, Arkansas; his brother, Sam Gammill of Springfield, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Pat Bryant and Sharon Bryant; two daughters, Kelly (Russell) Cooper of Piedmont, Missouri and Dana Edwards of White Hall, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Jayden Fultz of Boulder, Colorado, Lakin (Treyton) Carter of Whitehall, Arkansas, Fynn (Malynn) Cooper of Lawrence, Kansas, Malak Bouraeda of Casablanca, Morocco, Macy (Ian) Godwin of Redfield, Arkansas, Greta Cooper of Burnside, Iowa, Aubrey Edwards of Whitehall, Arkansas and many nieces and nephews. He was excitedly expecting his first great-granddaughter in the spring.
A visitation will be held between 4-5:00pm on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at the East Side Baptist Church with funeral services to follow. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Mountain Home Education Association; Bouraeda, Bryant, Gammill Scholarship; Eastside Baptist Church Missions benevolence or Christian Clinic.
