Ivan L. Wood, 76, of Batesville passed away Monday, January 29, 2024.
He was born July 27, 1947 in Batesville to Finis and Opal (Pitts) Wood.
Ivan was a member of the Ruddell Hill Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. He graduated from Batesville High School in 1965. He then went on to continue his education at Pines Vocational Technical School in Pine Bluff centering in electronics. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. He worked with Heasley's Furniture and did T.V. and radio repair and also worked at Clinic Drug doing deliveries. He owned and operated Wood T.V. for 47 years. He loved his kids and grandchildren and helping others. He enjoyed golfing, playing guitar, coaching youth baseball, and watching his grandkids play sports, and he also enjoyed raising his tomatoes and giving them away. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Survivors include his wife, whom he married July 6, 1968, Brenda Allender Wood of the home; three sons, Shane Wood (Crystal) of Batesville, Scott Wood (Kristy) of Almond, Tyler Wood of Batesville; one brother, Bobby Wood (Belinda) of Bella Vista; four grandchildren, Celsey Hammonds (Chandler), Caeley Wood, Grayson Wood, Harper Wood, and several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Ivan is preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers are Chris LaFera, Adam LaFera, Brady Allender, Blake Allender, Brad Allender, Chandler Hammonds, Caleb Blakley, Eric Wood, and Grayson Wood. Honorary pallbearers are Butch Jackson, Bobby Davis, Robert Cuzzort, Larry Price, Ronnie Sweet, and Lance Hall.
Funeral services will begin at 3:00pm Friday, February 2, 2024 at the Ruddell Hill Baptist Church with Tyler Bramlett and Alan Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home.
