of Jacksonville, AR
March 10, 1944 - December 29, 2023
Jennieve (Hill) Thrasher, age 79, went to be with her Lord & Savior ''Jesus'' on December 29, 2023. She was born in McClelland, Arkansas on March 10, 1944. She was a sweet-but-sassy, hardworking, charitable, independent single mother that passed these traits to her girls. She is survived by her daughters, Shaune (Robbie) Taylor and Janet Harness. Seven grandchildren, Kasey (Gary) Spaniak, Jeremy (Samantha) Taylor, Jordan (Sarah) Taylor, Courtney Hernandez, Ashliegh Hernandez, Tara Hernandez, Emma Hernandez and her nine great-grandchildren, Abby, Katy, Callie, Aria, Anna, Kaiden, Ryan, Levi & Jenson. Her brothers, Wayne Hill, Thomas Hill and Charles Hill. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Monroe & Jennie Lou Hill; brothers, Bobby Hill, Lavonne Hill and sisters, Thelma Dycus and Charlotte Diamond.
Jennieve (AKA Mamaw) was raised in Scott Arkansas near the Toltec Indian Mounds. If asked what she did as a child, she'd proudly tell you she picked cotton for her family growing up in Scott. She graduated from England High School.
Early in her adulthood she worked at the Timex factory in Little Rock with her sister, Charlotte Diamond. She was a single mother and did the best she knew how, raising two girls on her own. Later she would go on to work at Lomanco in Jacksonville for thirty years. During this time, she was able to buy a home in Jacksonville where she lived, worked and retired. She had lots of friends from her time with Lomanco. In retirement, she looked forward to attending the Lamanco company picnic and playing BINGO with friends and the occasional family member in tow. Some of her favorite pastimes were trips to Walmart, McDonalds & Burger King, reading & trading books, watching movies and visiting family. Anyone who has visited her in her home can attest to her vast collection of movies and books! She lived a worldly life for many years and when invited to church, she used to say, ''The building will fall in on me if I cross the threshold.''. The day her granddaughter, Kasey, was being baptized, she gave in and came to the service. Afterwards, Shaune quietly said, ''Mom the church did not fall in on you.''. Later, she began to attend church regularly and rededicated her life to Christ. When the Taylor family decided to become members of Jacksonville First Assembly of God, she did too! Her love for reading books carried over to a love of reading the bible and lots of praying.
Close family may recall some of her phrase-ologies and overall humorous side: You would say ''Walmart'' nope it's Walmark! or we'd say let's go eat at Barnhill's, she'd quickly say, you mean Buck-snorts? One that you may have heard, ''I hope you don't get that ole Corra-virus…Knowing she meant Corona Virus. I am sure if you think about it there are many more. If you've ever given her a ride in a car, then you've probably witnessed her with eyes closed for most of the trip whispering prayers until we safely arrived. There are many other stories that just can't be shared because of her PG-13 blunt sense of humor, most of you know a few.
Just this last Thanksgiving we were blessed to have her for the day and into the evening. Though being weak, her memory not what it used to be, she was enjoying her time with us. However, she was getting a little tired of family asking, ''Mamaw, do you know who this is?'' Then out of the blue, she went around the room for those who were present. ''There's Robbie-Dobbie, Shaunee-Wannee, Courtney-Wortney and my Emma-Bemma and Kasey-Wasey, Gary-Warey, Levey-Devey and a big finish with AND BOSSY JANET! She had the entire room cracking up! Jennieve was not a dressy type of person, she was most comfortable in her long zip up house coat with her eye mask over her head. Mom…Mamaw, we all love you and will miss you dearly, until we meet again in heaven.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 3rd at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Roller-Owens Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Jacksonville.
