of Harrison, AR
October 3, 1936 - December 22, 2023
With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ada Brooks, a beloved wife and mother, devoted friend, and an unwavering pillar of strength. Ada peacefully entered her Heavenly home on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Hospice of the Hills surrounded by her loving husband, Jerry, and daughter, Kim Rosson. Her departure leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will forever dwell in our hearts.
Born on October 3, 1936, in Hamburg, Arkansas, to Carroll Wood and Ethel Mae Brockwell, Ada exuded warmth and compassion, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Throughout her 87 years, she embraced life with grace, resilience, and an enduring spirit.
Ada, alongside her devoted husband, Jerry, dedicated their lives to nurturing and guiding their children with boundless love and unwavering support. For 60 years, she was a steadfast caregiver to her son, Randy, until his passing in 2016. Her home became a haven of laughter, understanding, and shared moments, forming the foundation of a close-knit family. Ada found joy in simple pleasures, whether scorekeeping for her daughter's softball team, Brooks Tile Company in Little Rock, attending her grandsons' Goblin games, sharing a cup of coffee at McDonald's with friends, or providing constant support to all who knew her.
In 2000, Ada and her family relocated to Harrison to be close to their daughter, Kim, and her family. While in Harrison, she embraced several jobs she truly loved. Ada worked at Shelby's for many years, reveling in wrapping presents and sharing enjoyable moments with her colleagues. Additionally, she worked with her daughter, Kim, at First Baptist Church Mother's Day Out, where her greatest joy was being around little ones, who adored Ms. Ada and always sought to spend time with her.
Ada is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Jerry; her daughter, Kim, and son-in-law, Brent Rosson; as well as her grandsons, Dr. Brent Rosson, Jr. and wife, Hannah, Bryan Rosson and Brooks Rosson and wife, Shelby. The birth of her first great-grandchild, Charlotte Catherine (CeCe), brought her immeasurable joy and CeCe will continue to carry forward Ada's legacy of love, kindness, and strength. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carroll and Ethel Brockwell; sister, Lucy Hunter; brother, C.W. Brockwell, Jr. and her son, Randy.
Serving as pallbearers were her three grandsons, Dr. Brent, Bryan, and Brooks Rosson, son-in-law, Brent, and devoted friends Randy Walters and Jon Burnside.
Honorary pallbearers were the loving staff at Hospice of the Hills and all the children she cared for at FBC Mother's Day Out.
