Mona Joy Sexton-Simmons of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 surrounded by her children.

Joy was born on July 19, 1934 to Maynard and Berta Smith in Mineral, Arkansas. She had 6 siblings. After graduating high school in Gilham, Arkansas in 1952, she met and married Gene Sexton. She and Gene moved to Lonoke where they raised 5 children. Together they turned Gene's photography business into Colonial Publishing Co.

Years after her husband's death, Joy married Norman Simmons and moved back to Sevier County to be close to her mother and sisters.

Joy was predeceased by her husband, David Eugene Sexton; daughter, Mona Jean and son, David Eugene. She is survived by Mignon Hatton (David); grandchildren, Jeff (Stephanie), Jon Hatton; Richard Sexton (Jeannie); grandchildren, Stephanie Miles (Chris), Whitney Sexton, Taylor, Seth, Alex Sexton; Bob Sexton (Jennie) and grandchildren, Sam, Grace & Andrew Sexton and grandchildren, Clay Sexton (Leah) and Erika Sexton.

Joy was caring and hardworking and placed the most value on time spent with family.
