In Loving Memory of Jerry Whitecotton
Jerry Whitecotton, 87, of Maumelle, Arkansas a beloved and humorous soul, departed from this world on December 5, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 1:30PM Friday, December 15, 2023 with graveside at Riverwood Memorial Gardens in Maumelle, Arkansas. There will be a time of visitation following at his home.
Jerry was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on August 18, 1936. The youngest of three boys to his parents, Milo and Elda Whitecotton.
Jerry's journey through life was marked by a passion for sports and education. He attended Centenary College, where outside of class he was often pulling pranks with friends when not playing baseball. After his college days, Jerry's social personality and understanding of the community lead him to a career in banking where he established himself as a respected banker and a cherished friend to many.
Jerry's greatest joy in life was his wife and his two daughters, whom he loved deeply. A testament to his unwavering support and love for family, he was often the loudest to cheer to at his grandchildren's' sporting events. With his daughters and grandchildren alike, Jerry instilled in them valuable life lessons, teaching them to be independent, find humor in life and the importance of persistence.
In his later years, Jerry embraced the camaraderie of the senior community, participating in his church and the local senior citizens center. Known for his laughter and zest for life, Jerry delighted in activities such as tai chi and chair volleyball, bringing joy to those around him.
True to his jovial nature, Jerry lived by the motto, "Smile, it makes people wonder what you're up to". A phrase that captured his approach to life. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and a reminder to find joy in every moment.
As we bid farewell to Jerry, let us remember the man who touched our lives with humor, love and the enduring belief that a smile can make the world a brighter place. He will be dearly missed by family and friends, but his spirit and laughter will live on in our hearts.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Harry Whitecotton and Lewis Whitecotton. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joyce Bonita Whitecotton; his children, Angèle Forrest and her children, Becca and Cooper, Kelly Williams and husband, Jeff and their children Reese and Bradley.
If so moved, flowers or a donation to a charity of choice in his memory are welcomed.
