Mary Elizabeth Taylor was born on Monday, October 15, 1934, in Helena, Arkansas. She is the second child of Biscoe Carter and Grace Harris Carter. She passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 in Mesquite, Texas at the home of her son, Jeff.
Preceding her in death is her second husband Douglas Taylor, her parents , and her first husband Clyde Reuben Taylor, Jr., who was the father to her two sons.
Surviving are her son, David Taylor and Jeffrey Taylor (Wanda) of Mesquite, Texas; grandsons Neal, Andrew, Tim, and Jason; her brother, Ralph Carter of Hendersonville, North Carolina; and seven great grandchildren.
Mary, known then as ''Lib'' attended Helena Schools, graduating as Valedictorian in the class of 1952. She joined the First Baptist Church of Helena at an early age and was a lifelong church member, moreover she devoted her life serving God and bringing love, talents and generosity to the world according to her Christian faith.
Mary's worked in bookkeeping and accounting in Marianna and Helena. She had many friends from her years at Lee Memorial Hospital, where she was the financial controller until its closing. Despite being stricken with polio in 1953, Mary's faith and determination carried her through 89 years, building a family, home, and a legacy of caring and love that will live eternally.
A funeral will be held for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Taylor at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Roller-Citizens Chapel. A visitation will be held one hour prior. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery. Minister Bobbie Baker will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Helena in Helena, Arkansas and First Baptist Church of Marianna in Marianna, Arkansas.
