Harvey H. Davis, age 79, of Marshall, Arkansas went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, November 1st, 2023 at Baxter Regional in Mountain Home, Arkansas surrounded by his family. He was born in Marshall, Arkansas on August 6th, 1944 to Pvt. Harvey W. Davis and Ruby Lois Foshee Davis. Harvey's dad died during WWII when the ship he was on, the SS Paul Hamilton, was attacked off the coast of Cape Bengut in the Mediterranean Sea by 23 German bombers. One aerial torpedo struck the Paul Hamilton and detonated the cargo of high explosives and bombs and the ship and crew disappeared within 30 seconds. The crew and passengers, who included 154 officers and men of the 831st Bombardment Squadron, were all lost. Harvey's dad died 4 months before Harvey was born. His mother later married Devoe Thomas Morrison who raised Harvey as his own son.
Harvey graduated from Marshall High School in 1961. He loved God and his family. Harvey enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting and horseback riding. He married Carolyn House on November 30th, 1962. They were one month shy of celebrating 61 years of marriage.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn House Davis of the home; two daughters, Christy (Kelvin) Preis and Harvie (Tim) Beaver; grandchildren, Zachary (Catherine) Beaver, Stephanie Beaver, Jacob (Reagan) Beaver and Hunter Preis; in February of 2024, Harvey would have been welcoming his first great-grandson; mother-in-law, Elmo House; brother-in-law, Charles (Nancy) House and many nieces and nephews who will also mourn his passing.
Harvey is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey W. Davis and Ruby Lois Morrison; his stepfather, Devoe Thomas Morrison and two sisters, Linda Kathy House and Tommye Rena Sue Arnold.
Funeral services for Harvey will be 2:00 PM Saturday, November 4th, 2023 at Marshall Assembly of God Church with Bro. Sam Horton officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 till 2:00 PM preceding the service. Burial will be in Marshall Memorial Gardens. Bearers will be Kelvin Preis, Tim Beaver, Zachary Beaver, Jacob Beaver, Hunter Preis and Larry Clingings.
