Margaret Ann Pleasants

of Little Rock, AR

June 20, 1949 - October 24, 2023

Margaret Ann (Lashbrook) Pleasants, born on June 20, 1949 in Memphis, Tennessee went home to be with our Lord and Savior on October 24, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Small Lashbrook and Margaret Pearl (Rice) Lashbrook and her beloved husband, Skip Pleasants. Margaret is survived by cousins, Marion (Monroe) Carlton, Grace Ellen Rice and Jerry (Kathy) Rice.

Following graduation from the University of Memphis, Margaret was the librarian at Somerville Elementary in Fayetteville County, Tennessee and at Briarcrest Christian High School in Memphis, Tennessee. After the passing of her husband and mother, she attended nursing school in Memphis, but was unable to complete her training due to health issues. She moved to Arkansas to be closer to family and continued working as a librarian at Pulaski Academy and then later at Little Rock Christian Academy, where she possessed a passion for spending quality time with youth, teaching them how to use the library, to love and value books and to develop a lifelong love of learning. While this was her vocation, her greatest passion was always for sharing her precious Lord and Savior verbally and literally by living her life for Him.

While living in Arkansas, she developed a passion for antiques, especially Blue Ridge pottery and Shawnee pottery. She enjoyed working with flowers, being out in nature and collecting beautiful white Arkansas rocks. One of her accomplishments was to hike to the top of Pinnacle Mountain in her younger years. Music was a part of her life since high school chorus. She loved playing the old hymns on the piano. She found humor in everyday things and kept everyone in stitches.

Margaret's last name aptly reflected her demeanor, for she was a pleasant, loving and caring individual who will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have known her, for she herself was an encyclopedia of knowledge gleaned from her years of reading and studying books, especially her treasured Bibles and devotional books, which she religiously annotated, planting their wisdom deeply into her brain?s garden which flourished with an abundance of beautiful flowers.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at the Parkway Village Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church Pantry Mission, Immanuel Baptist Church Missions and Evangelism Endowment Fund or to Samaritans Purse.
