Thomas Robert Lang was born on October 16, 1938 in Virginia, Minnesota, the first son of Leroy and Mabel (McDonough) Lang. He grew up in Hibbing, Minnesota and graduated from Hibbing High School in 1956. Tom attended Hibbing Junior College in Hibbing and Brown Institute in Minneapolis. He proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine for 3 years before meeting and marrying the love of his life, Bonita (Bonnie) Beckler in Mandan, North Dakota in 1965.
Tom started his career with Northwest Bell as a lineman in December 1962 and eventually became a manager in the accounting department before retiring in December 1995. After retiring, Tom and Bonnie moved to Fairfield Bay, Arkansas in May of 1996. Tom became active in the local community, serving as Membership Chairman of the Indian Hills Golf Association for three years. A longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, Tom joined the local K of C Chapter and served for 27 years in a variety of positions. Tom helped raise funds to build the Hart Center in Fairfield Bay and served on the Hart Center board for 15 years. He was also an active member in the American Legion serving as Treasurer.
Tom loved the outdoors and enjoyed the lake, golf and many outdoor activities. He coached multiple youth sports teams and was an active supporter of the Boy Scouts of America.
Tom made an indelible impact on everyone he met and will be deeply missed. He will always be remembered and cherished by his loving family; wife, Bonnie Lang of Fairfield Bay, AR; daughter, Amy Lang of Chicago, IL; son, Kevin Lang of Broomfield, CO; daughter, Kimberly (Ken) Bunnell of Gretna, NE; one brother and sister-in-law, Jim (Cindy) Lang of Troy, MI; one sister-in-law, Rosie (Jerry) Lang of Bloomington, MN; three grandchildren, KJ and Masyn Bunnell of Gretna, NE and Paige Zigtema of Kansas City, MO; one great-grandchild, Eli Zigtema of Kansas City, MO; one niece, Patti Lang and three nephews, David Lang, John Lang and Brian Lang.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Mabel Lang and his brother, Jerry Lang.
