of Mountain Home, AR
January 16, 1935 - September 1, 2023
Alvin ''Sonny'' Kasinger, a lifelong resident and native of Mountain Home was born on Pigeon Creek Road on January 16th, 1935 and passed away on September 1st, 2023 at Baxter Health in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was the third son born to Robert and Dellie (Studdard) Kasinger. He was given his nickname, Sonny, by his pop, E.A. Studdard, who gave all his grandchildren nicknames.
On September 22, 1962 he married Elizabeth (Betty) Goetz in Mountain Home. She preceded him in death on April 17th, 1995. They were the parents of two daughters, Patricia Lynn (Mike) Turner of Mountain Home and Theresa Francine (Chris) Abbott of Eldridge, Iowa.
Mr. Kasinger worked as a well driller (cable tool rig) for over 50 years. He worked in Kansas City for a time and worked locally for Odus Summers (who was like a father figure to him), Carl Stanislawski and Bud Bryant, before owning his own business, Kasinger Well Drilling. He could get a call from someone wanting information on a well he had drilled years ago and he could tell them all about it, how deep and the gallons per minute it produced.
Hobbies of Mr. Kasinger were coon hunting when the area was less inhabited and his dogs could tree a coon with those of the Britt boys and Wasson Kent. We as a family, enjoyed listening to Jerry Clower albums. In later years, he and Wasson had jumping mules, Sugar and Booger, that they rode hunting. He would go to the pool hall off the square and play Moon. He also very much enjoyed playing cards, (he taught his daughters how to play 52 card pickup) and dominoes, going to casinos and watching St. Louis Cardinal Baseball and Nascar. He also enjoyed watching old westerns like Gunsmoke and all John Wayne movies.
He is also survived by one granddaughter, Morgan Grace Abbott (Dad thought she hung the moon), and step-granddaughter, Meredith Abbott (Adam Schmidt) of Seattle, WA; step granddaughter, Lindsey Sanders and her husband, Michael; two step-great-grandchildren, Kendrick and Masen Sanders all of Mountain Home; Dad and Masen had a special bond, you could just see it. Two sisters-in-law, Rita Kasinger of Mountain Home and Fran Goetz of Delta, Colorado. Other local survivors are nephew, Bobby Kasinger and cousins, Sue Kasinger, Leon Kasinger, Junior Kasinger, Bobby Lance and Junior Raymond to name just a few. Many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and lots of cousins also survive him. The Studdard boys of Washington State held a special place in his heart.
Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Willie (who died in infancy), Elmer and Eldon; one sister, Margaret Dilbeck and three nephews, Darryl Kasinger, James Kasinger and Terry Dilbeck.
Pallbearers will be Leon Carson, Ricky Strain, Bobby Kasinger and Jim Brown.
Honorary Pallbearers are Bob Mitchell, Mike Fretueg, James ''Hooker'' Pilgrim and everyone he ever drilled a well for.
