Gordon came from a humble beginning in the small community of Gold Dust, TN. He grew up in Ripley, TN and completed High School there. He was in the band starting in the 6th grade. It was the highlight of his schooling and he had many friends from that time. His family was very special to him all his life and was shown by the way he loved his children, grandchildren and great grands. He and Linda celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in Hawaii and they both thought that was a very special time in their life. As a young boy he and his mother loved to go fishing and did so as often as they possibly could. He was a Memphis Tiger Basketball fan and watched every game on TV whenever possible.

Gordon served our country for several years in the Naval Reserves at the Millington Naval Station outside of Memphis.

Gordon became a Christian in his early 40's. He was very active at his church, First Baptist in West Memphis, AR. He and Linda met at church and were married in 1983 in West Memphis. He taught in the Youth Sunday School Department for several years and worked in the bus ministry picking up the children for church activities. He and Linda moved to Searcy in 2004 and remained active in church at First Baptist in Searcy. He loved the Lord with all his heart and was willing to share that love with others. He taught a Bible Study to a special group of men on alternate Thursday evenings. They were very special to him, here at First Baptist, Searcy.
