Charlene Hutcherson Lueken, 94, of Helena died Saturday, August 12th in Conway. Mrs. Lueken was born March 24, 1929 in Dardanelle to the late Arnie and Amos Hutcherson.
Mrs. Lueken attended Arkansas Tech where she was a cheerleader and voted Campus Queen. There she met and married the love of her life, Carl ''Hoot'' Lueken on Dec. 21, 1947. They moved to Helena and together they owned and operated a popular restaurant named the "In-B-Tween". She later worked and retired from the Arkansas State Department of Human Services as the Director of Child Services.
Mrs. Lueken was awarded the achievement rank of Gold Life Master Player with the American Contract Duplicate Bridge League. She was very active in the Catholic church, serving as a Eucharist Minister for several years. She was a woman who loved her husband and family immensely, selflessly, full of warmth and kindness. There was never a small child or baby that she encountered where her face would not light up with joy. She showed her love of Jesus in the way she made everyone feel so very special.
Mrs. Lueken leaves her three daughters, Patsy Robbins and her husband, Neil of Helena, Becky Lueken of Greenbriar, Denise Blankenbeker of Fayetteville; a son, Kurt Lueken and his wife, Lynn of Little Rock; a sister, Wilma Taylor of Harrison; eight grandchildren, Blake Robbins and wife, Lisa, Pieper Noel, Corey Johns and wife, Savannah, Brett Johns and wife, Samantha, Micah Haupt and her husband, Will, Erika Lueken, Max Blankenbeker and Molly Blankenbeker. She also leaves 10 great-grandchildren, Carson, Bogan, Tri, Avery, Mercier, Lueken, Colston, Demi, Hutch and Hayes.
Pallbearers are Neil Robbins, Blake Robbins, Carson Robbins, Corey Johns, Brett Johns, Will Haupt and Max Blankenbeker
A private burial will be on Wednesday, August 16th in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Helena. Family and friends are invited to join the family in the Catholic Parish Hall at 11:00 a.m. for her celebration of life of 94 years.
