M. Inez Pennington

of Benton, AR

September 15, 1924 - August 1, 2023

Mahauta Inez Pennington, 98, of Benton, Arkansas passed from this world on Tuesday, August 1, 2023. She was born September 15, 1924 in Ada, Oklahoma to Dallas and Nina Davis. Before dementia took her memory, Inez was an avid gardener, whose family nicknamed her ''the best weed picker in Arkansas''. She was a wonderful MawMaw and Grandma, known for her country style breakfasts and amazing banana milkshakes. She was frugal to the core; she never replaced anything if it still worked even a little bit. She was a recycler before it was popular; she reused every laundry detergent box, piece of foil, Ziploc baggie and Cool Whip tub. Inez was a dedicated Christian who taught Sunday School, maintained the church library and volunteered with CJCOHN. She was an avid reader and a self-proclaimed ''average'' golfer who played Friday night scrambles with her husband, Paul. A favorite tradition for many years was vacations spent at the lake with her family, filled with laughter, fishing and endless bowls of homemade ice cream. Her proudest accomplishment was raising three sons and a daughter and then watching them raise their children. She created a beautiful legacy and example for her
family and those who knew and loved her.
Inez was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Paul W Pennington; her sisters, Pat and Betty and her brother, Blaine. She is survived by three sons, Greg (Sherrie), Mike (Etta) and Steve (Terri); one daughter, Paula Barker (Brent); 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held in Oklahoma at a later date. She will be interred at Garden Grove Cemetery of Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating your time or money to CJCOHN, donating to the Alzheimer's organization of your choice, or donating a book or two to the library of your choice.
The family would especially like to thank the caregivers and hospice workers at Pleasant Hill Senior Services. Their love and care were such a blessing to Inez and her family. We cannot thank them enough.
