Gladys Loraine Douglas, born May 22, 1926, passed away at home, with family by her side, on August 1, 2023. She was born to Reginald Raymond Miller and Mae Pauline (Hardy) Miller in Judsonia, AR. In her later years, Gladys worked in the cafeteria at Wynne Primary School and retired from Cross County Hospital. She spent her days of leisure gardening and watching her hummingbirds. Gladys was an avid canner and cook. She enjoyed cooking for her large family and anyone, who came into her home. She was known by many who adopted her as Momma D and Grandma Douglas. She was a gifted vocalist and enjoyed singing with her family. Gladys was a member of Valley View Baptist Church of Wynne, Arkansas.
Mrs. Douglas was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Guy Douglas, and two daughters: Reba Cotton & JoAnn Jones; three stepdaughters, Marie Sibley, Christine Fleetwood, and Joyce Fields; son, Buddy Douglas; five brothers, Lester Miller, Tyrus Miller, Reginald Miller, Robert Miller, and Baby Boy Miller; her sisters, Helen Sisk Moore and Rose Davis; five grandchildren, and two sons-in-law.
Left to cherish Gladys's memory are her four sons, Richard (Dick) Douglas, Steve Douglas and his wife Susan of Wynne, AR., Roger Darrell Douglas and his wife Jenny of Wynne, AR., Hoss Douglas and his wife Shannon of Cottonplant, AR.; as well as her three daughters: Connie Fraizer Conner of Wynne, AR., Nancy Earls of Harrisburg, and Diann Martin and her husband Garland of Harrisburg, AR; Sisters, Stella Henson of Birdeye, AR, and Norma Bowden of West Helena, AR. She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Mrs. Gladys Douglas will be at Three Trees Cowboy Church, 222 Co Rd 381, Wynne, AR, 72396, Monday, August 7, 2023, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, with services beginning at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Harris Chapel Cemetery.
