Joy Alyce Clark

Joy Alyce Clark passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023. Joy was born December 16, 1938, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Samuel and Jenny Oates. She married Thomas Clark, on August 26, 1960, and made their home in Harrison, Arkansas for the past 50 years. Joy was educated at St. Vincent Infirmary School of Nursing in Little Rock, Arkansas, and Plattsburgh State College in New York. She and Thomas traveled with the United States Air Force until his retirement. Joy worked in many nursing disciplines in her career as a registered nurse. She retired as a nurse educator having worked for Twin Lakes Vocational Technical School/North Arkansas College for more than 25 years as an LPN instructor.

Joy is survived by her children, Shawn Dennis (Michael) of Flippin, Arkansas, Brian Clark (Summer) of Corpus Christi, Texas and Nikki Sullins (Micheal) of Harrison, Arkansas; her grandsons, Jordan Dennis, Cody Dennis, Matthew Clark, Ashtin Sullins and Lathin Sullins; her nieces, Billie Jo Measles, Sue Roberson and Iris Isgrig and many other family and friends. She especially loved and appreciated her Twin Lakes Vocational Technical School family.

Joy is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Louise "Sissy" Sorey; stepsisters, Carolyn Brown and Frances Jones; infant brother, Samuel (Buddy) Oates and infant grandson, Jess Cooper IV.


Visitation was held Friday, July 28, 2023, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

The funeral service was held Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home with Bro. Alfred Pflueger and the burial followed at Maplewood Cemetery.

A tribute will be performed by the Arkansas Nurses Honor Guard of the Hills.

Pallbearers were Jordan Dennis, Cody Dennis, Matthew Clark, Ashtin Sullins, Lathin Sullins, Michael Dennis, Brian Clark, and Micheal Sullins.

Honorary pallbearers were the Twin Lakes Vocational Technical School family.

Memorials can be made to the North Arkansas College LPN program or the National Foundation for Feed the Children.
