Evelyn Carrier Estes Kreitzer

of Little Rock, AR

January 25, 1933 - June 29, 2023

Evelyn "Sis" Carrier Estes Kreitzer went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on June 28,2023. Evelyn was the youngest of 7, born to Logan and Della Carrier on January 25th, 1933 at home in Stanford, Kentucky. She had many chores on the farm, but she most often talked of the ones she didn't like; gathering the eggs and fighting with her brother Babe over whose turn it was to churn the butter!

After graduating from Highland High School in Stanford, she took on a few jobs in town. She started at the local drug store and then a shoe factory. Her dad remarked that he thought it cost him more for her to work than stay on the farm! She met the love of her life, Herbert Estes Jr. on a double date, but she wasn't his date that night! Dad made sure that situation was fixed quickly! They married in 1954 and moved to Dayton, Ohio where dad was employed by General Motors. Mom went to work at McCall's Corporation in the Bindery Department putting Reader's Digests together. She worked there until Dad convinced her she should be a stay at home mom, which she loved!

She tragically lost the love of her life at the age of 42. Having a daughter to raise was what she knew she had to do to honor my dad.

Mom went to work as a "temporary part-time" worker at the Marianist Mission in 1977 and eventually became the supervisor of the Spiritual Alliance Department until her retirement at age 78.

Mom would meet her second husband at a mixer a friend of hers took her to, that was Edward Kreitzer. They quickly realized they had many people in common and shared the tragedy of losing their spouses. They were married for over 20 years until Ed's passing.

We attempted to lure her to Arkansas to be closer to family, but always told her it was her decision on the when. After a few years, she called and said, "I'm ready to move", so we made it happen. Mom enjoyed her new home and met many new friends through Thursday's Together at church or the Senior Citizen's Center.

My mom lived the faith she inherited from her family and passed that faith on to others in how she lived her life. She always had a smile to give to someone.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents; all of her siblings; husbands, Herb and Ed; as well as many dear friends. She is survived by daughter, Pat Donson; grandson, Jonas Donson & wife, Krystal and great-grandson, George Kenneth; as well as many other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in mom's honor to Bryant First United Methodist Church, Mt. Moriah Christian Church Cemetery Fund, Baptist Hospice, St. Jude Children's Hospital or the charity of your heart.

Service will be Saturday July 8, at 11:00 in the Prayer Garden at Bryant First United Methodist Church, 508 N. Reynolds Rd. Bryant, Arkansas and burial to take place at Mt. Moriah Christian Church in Stanford, Kentucky at a later date.
