Charles Frank Groskopf of Hartman, Arkansas, age 79, died peacefully June 25, 2023 at the V A Palliative Care Unit in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Charles was born January 7, 1944 in Madison, Wisconsin to Harvey Groskopf and Helen Ebert Groskopf.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Evelyn Miller Groskopf of Linthicum, Maryland; sisters, Alvia Carmody Yate and Helen Mary Hoeffer; nephews, Jack Carmody, Jr., Christopher Carmody, William Carmody and Robert Carmody.

The family moved to Hartman when he was four and started a dairy farm. He was a 1962 graduate of Hartman High School and attended College of the Ozarks (UofO). He was drafted into the Army and served 1965-1967 in the Vietnam War.

After working several different jobs, Charlie applied for and got a job with an airline that is now American Airlines. He worked for over 30 years at the Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI). After retiring he moved back to Arkansas in 2001. He worked for a while as a builder in construction before accepting a job with the Clarksville Housing Authority as MOD Coordinator for eight years.

Charles was a member and Elder at the Harmony Presbyterian Church. Member of Franklin Masonic Lodge #9 Clarksville; York Rite Masons and Knights Templar in Russellville and Clarksville Order of Eastern Star #172, a member of Johnson County Car and Truck Club and loved shooting flames in the 1939 Nash. And a member of the Johnson County Dive and Rescue team, Historical Society and Maryland Steam Historical Society in Arcadia, MD. He was a devoted father to his son and stepchildren, loved his family and was a faithful friend.

Those left behind are wife of 25 years, Barbara Tumbleson Groskopf; son, Charles John Groskopf (Erica) of Parkville, Maryland; stepchildren, Melissa Fyr of Union, Missouri and Stephen Fyr of Hartman; brother-in-law, Denton Tumbleson (Jane); nieces, Teresa, Tricia, Melissa, Jennifer, Ashley and Lauren; nephews, Justin and Rusty who loved their Uncle Charlie; cousins, Paula and Robbin; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to Harmony Presbyterian Church, Johnson County Dive and Rescue Team or Johnson County Historical Society.

Celebration of life will be held at the Harmony Presbyterian Church Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Interment will be at Minnow Creek Cemetery with Military and Masonic services at 2:30 PM.
