Jose Luis Canales Ruiz, 81 years of age, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023 at the Arkansas Veterans Hospital.

Jose was born September 14, 1941 in Mexico City, Mexico to the late Jose Canales y Canales and Sara Ruiz Benitz Canales. He was the second oldest of five children, one preceded him in death. Jose served in the Army during the Vietnam war. Jose married the late Elizabeth Hedwig Canales (Pfister) in 1964 and two children were born of this union. Jose began work at the age of 15 working in various manufacturing companies as a supervisor in paint departments.

Jose had a passion for soccer which he expressed as a player and later in life as a coach. He also enjoyed listening to music, playing instruments and dancing with the love of his life.

Jose leaves behind his children, Mark Canales and Rosemarie Sauvage; three grandchildren; two sisters; a brother and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023 at 12:00 P.M. at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
